I AM THE FEATURED ARTIST FOR JUNE WITH ARTIST CAREER TRAINING
I was excited as well as honored to be approached by Aletta De Wal with Artist Career Training. The tagline of the company says it all "make a better living making art". She helps artists with the business side of art, so we can create more art. CLICK HERE to read my interview for June 2010.

EMERGING ART SCENE IS MOVING!!!!
As many of you know, I am currently represented by Emerging Art Scene, operated by Denise Jackson. Denise started out as an art consultant and quickly opened a venue in the Stacks in Cabbagetown. Now about a year later, she is moving to an easily accessible storefront in Castleberry Hill on Nelson Street. The grand opening is tentatively set for June 11, 7-10p, to correspond with the monthly Castleberry Art Stroll. Read about Denise's journey in this article "Emerging Art Seen in Unusual Spaces".
The Castleberry Art Stroll was recently voted the best art stroll in Atlanta by Creative Loafing. Come out and visit interesting and diverse gallery. Businesses and restaurants will remain open, so come have some dinner, buy some art and look at the lofts! Click here for a listing of businesses participating.
I am proud to be represented by Emerging Art Scene! Denise has great ideas about how to get art in front of collectors!

RECOMMENDED READING
Because of the recent art-theft in Paris, I began reading about both the Art of Stealing Art and forgery. I found the following books about this subject: (CBS Sunday Morning did a story about the Art of Stealing Art. Click here to see. )
THE FORGERY OF VENUS - by Michael Gruber. This is a wild and crazy ride. Even though it is fiction - you learn something about the world of art forgery as the talented Chaz Wilmot begins channeling Velazquez. Is he really painting as the master, or is it a scheme to recreate art stolen by the Nazis? THE GARDNER HEIST: THE TRUE STORY OF THE WORLD'S LARGEST UNSOLVED ART THEFT - by Ulrich Boser. This is non-fiction, even though you turn the pages as fast as you would a dime-store mystery. To make it more interesting, art history is thrown in. For instance, I didn't know the Rembrandt that was stolen was his only seascape (with himself inserted into it!). The investigators went from the crime bosses of Boston to the IRA and further. PROVENANCE: HOW A CON MAN AND A FORGER REWROTE THE HISTORY OF MODERN ART - By Laney Salisbury and Aly Sujo - a husband and a wife team. The upper crust artworld should have caught onto this scam - the first paintings were done using regular house-paint. After all, the con man created catalogs for exhibitions that never took place. A real page turner. However, it does pose questions. If a forgery is as good as an original - why isn't it considered "good art"? (these were not copies of existing pieces, but pieces that were "found"). Picasso was known to sign a few forgeries in his day to keep dealers happy (good forgeries - that is - his quote: "if the counterfeit were a good one, I'd be delighed. I'd straight away and sign it".)
ON MY LIST TO READ AND WATCH: VANISHED SMILE - by R.A. Scotti - yes the Mona Lisa was stolen at one point and Picasso was a suspect. Can't wait to read this! The Rape of Europa - available on DVD - 117 minutes - about 12 years of the Nazis' pillaging works of art
