News from the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD)
September 26, 2011

Good morning...

In the last two years, we re-located both of our Suffolk County offices to accommodate our growth and enhance our ability to serve individuals and families. Now, we've taken the big step in Nassau and moved our Williston Park office to Mineola, where we have a fresh new look and about twice the space we had in our old building. Parking is easier and we'll be able to run multiple support groups and/or trainings simultaneously. In short, we'll be able to serve even more people in a more welcoming professional setting. Special thanks to our board directors who served on our "Building Committee," Board Chair Bill Baum who donated some wonderful office furniture and Father Eichner's fine folks at Kellenberg who helped us lug desks, chairs, file cabinets and boxes.

Stay tuned for an invitation to our upcoming Open House and in the meantime, please update your records to reflect our new address:

Our phone/fax numbers remain the same.

Warmly,

LICADD Golf Outing Breaks Record!

Last Monday's 31st Annual R. Brinkley Smithers Golf Invitational was LICADD's most successful ever, with sponsors, golfers, and dinner guests coming together to raise more than $425,000.

The sunny all-day event kicked off with LICADD supporters taking their place on the course, smiles all around and ready for a fun-filled tournament. The golfers, however, never lost sight of the main reason they were all there in the first place: to celebrate and support the hope and recovery LICADD provides families across Long Island.

The Diamonds in the Rough Dinner Reception followed golf play and featured guest speakers including this year's Honoree, NY Yankees Executive Ray Negron, Hanks Yanks, Dwight Gooden, and longtime LICADD board member, Adele C. Smithers. Tom Suozzi followed with an exciting live auction which included exclusive golf opportunities at some of the top golf courses in America.

Many, many thanks are due to our sponsors listed below, each of the 240 golfers who participated, our more than 350 dinner guests and the dozens of volunteers who helped make it all possible.

LICADD Remembers Rich Koller

LICADD lost a friend on September 11, 2011 when Richard Steven Koller passed away. Rich was a 32-year veteran of the NYPD and according to former LICADD Executive Director Jim Devine, showed up at LICADD each week for more than 7 years "quietly volunteering his time and experience answering phones, helping with mailings and other innumerable tasks." We remember Rich and ask that you keep him and his family in your prayers.
