Good morning! Last week we told you about three new community leaders and business professionals who have just been elected to our committed and dynamic board of directors. Our LICADD family continues to grow this week as we add well-known addiction treatment professional Joanne Devitt to our clinical team. Joanne has 20+ years worth of experience in the field and is an LPN and CASAC. She most recently served as Clinical Director at Bridge Back to Life in Bethpage and has also worked for Seafield. Joanne's interests inlcude serving adolescents and families, and she's successfully launched programs for young women struggling with addiction and eating disorders. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Joanne to LICADD as we continue to expand our ability to serve.

LICADD is pleased to announce that Dr. John Sheehy will receive our 2011 Founder's Award at this year's Angel Ball to be held on May 4th at Oheka Castle.
Dr. John P. Sheehy is the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Glen Cove Hospital and is an attending physician at North Shore-LIJ University Hospital at Manhasset, Cohen Children's Medical Center and Winthrop. Well-respected by his peers for his acumen in the field of pediatrics, Dr. Sheehy has been appointed to several prestigious professional committees including the Nominating, By-laws, Medical Board, Performance Improvement and Credentialing Committees. He is a member of the Joint Conference Professional Affairs Committee for North Shore LIJ Healthcare System, as well as the Medical Executive Committee. He currently serves as the director of the Pediatric Program for Family Practice Residency Program at Glen Cove Hospital. Dr. Sheehy is the Physician in Charge at North Shore School District and the Medical Director for St. Christopher-Ottilie Home in Sea Cliff. He is published in the fields of pediatrics and sports medicine. Dr. Sheehy has lectured to Physicians, Residents and Medical Students at Adelphi University and will be a Clinical Mentor for Hofstra University School of Medicine when it opens in Sept. 2011.
Dr. Sheehy has served the community for 33 years specializing in treating children and adolescents and is held in the highest regard by the medical community and beloved by his patients. Dr. Sheehy and his lovely wife Patricia reside in Locust Valley and have three wonderful children, Catherine, Anna and Bridget. Dr. Sheehy has been a devoted LICADD Board Director for more than two decades, and has served as the Vice Chair of the Executive Board. As both a dedicated father and medical professional, Dr. Sheehy has worked tirelessly to raise the public awareness of the dangers of alcohol and substance use, particularly upon children and adolescents. He is a strong advocate for all children and families struggling to overcome the devastating impact of alcoholism and substance use. For his life-long commitment to creating a healthier community for our children, we are privileged to present the 2011 LICADD Founder's Award to Dr. John P. Sheehy.
