2010 B2M MOM PROM

  Building Castles in the Sky
Greetings!

On Sunday, May 9, 2010 - MOTHERS' DAY - the gentlemen of Boys II Men hosted the 4th annual Mom Prom. Over 125 mothers, sons, and family members came out for a special evening of dinner, dancing, and downright fun!

With the theme, 'Building Castles in the Sky', young men treated their mothers like queens who have inspired them to reach for new heights. Through laughter, tears, poetry, and songs, it was definitely a night to be remembered.

Take a look at some of the highlights ........

THE QUEEN!

The 2010 Mom Prom Queen received a standing ovation when she was crowned. Our Queen is Mrs. Freda Davis-Mendoza, mother of B2M President, Jomar Mendoza. For the last three years, Mrs. Davis-Mendoza has been a vocal supporter of B2M and has helped to recruit other young men into the organization. She was crowned by Miss Teen Kane County, Susan Salinas, sister of B2M Member, Fernando Salinas.

THE TRIBUTES
Three young phenoms took to the stage to salute the mothers in song. West Aurora's Dominique Robinson (l) gave his rendition of Tupac's Dear Mama while East Aurora's Samuel Nunez (c) sang Fred Astaire's L-O-V-E!

Scholar Brian Keys (r) brought tears to our eyes with his soulful version of the hit song, A Song for Mama, by the music group, Boys II Men.

THE PACT
Each  Phenom gave his mother a 'special gift'! This gift was a 'Mother-Son Pact' where the young men promised to do up to 12 different actions. Actions included: maintaining honor roll, watching a movie, and even a foot massage...yes, a foot massage!

Needless to say, the mothers all LOVED this gift!

THE PARTY!
...and when the DJ pressed play, the mothers and sons danced the night away. From the Cupid Shuffle to Bachata to Old School Stepping, we did it all...

THE CASTLES

"Just the two of us, building castles in the sky. Just the two of us, you and I."
Dear Mom,

I just want to say thank you for your love and for your support. You are my mother, my best friend, and, at times, my father. A mother's love is an infinite love. May God Bless You!

Jonathan Salinas (to his mother, Elizabeth)
East Aurora High School

Dear Ma:

Without you in my life, I just wouldn't know what to do. I know I don't tell you 'thank you' or 'I love you' enough, but I really do.

When I am angry or sad, you know what to say to make me feel better. I want you to know that I love you and appreciate everything you do for me.  You deserve all the credit for making me into the phenomenal young man that I am today.

Love,

Brandon Hayes (to his mother, Eboni)
West Aurora High School
Hey Mom!

Well, this is our 19th Mothers' Day together. This time it's different because now, I am a phenomenal young man.

The thing is that I didn't become the man that I am without you being there for me every day of my life. I know that I may not ever be able to return all of the love that you have given me, but I promise that I will try my best.

While I may not be your babyboy anymore, I will always be your first born baby. I love you so much.

Josh Soto (to his mother, Amanda)
Northern Illinois University

Dear Mom:

Ever since the initial development of my body in your womb, we shared a bond that encompasses our minds, body, and soul. So from the time in between my conception in the womb and my death in the tomb, I will always love you.

You nourished me, raised me, and loved me over the years; and I have no doubt that you will continue to do the same in the many years to come. I am indebted to you for all of your sacrifices.

I do believe that every day, every week, and every month of the year is a Mothers' Day. You are just that important to me.  Thank you for everything. I deeply truly and forever love you.

Sincerely,
