ACTION PLAN B
BE PART OF THE SOLUTION!

HOW FAR IS YOUR REACH?

Greetings!

We are excited to send you this latest edition of Action Plan B to keep you informed about the work of Lives in the Balance.  Our goal is to make sure you're in the loop on ways to advocate on behalf of behaviorally challenging kids and their caregivers.  We are delighted with the response to our last edition.  Thanks to you we've gathered hundreds of signatories to the LITB Bill of Rights.  And we've been busy sending your LITB Care Packages to people ... grandparents, principals, classroom teachers, superintendents, mayors, governors, state representatives, senators, and others ... who need more information on how to best understand and help our kids.

Also, in keeping with our goal of responding quickly whenever we learn of counterproductive initiatives or practices, Lives in the Balance has reached out to a State Representative and State Senator in Florida who proposed legislation to grade parents on their involvement in their children's school, and to Texas educators who have authorized police to issue tickets to students as young as six as a means of discipline.  If you read or hear about similar counterproductive initiatives or practices ... either in your area or in the news media ... let us know so we can respond.  As you know, our goal isn't to be confrontational but rather to educate and inform.

We also need you to let us know when you hear about people who already have the right lenses on and who are diligently and bravely doing the right thing for behaviorally challenging kids and their caregivers.  Along these lines, Lives in the Balance will be recognizing parents,  teachers, and staff members in restrictive facilities who are implementing the CPS model in their homes, schools, and facilities.  Over the years, I have been amazed by the strength, resilience, patience, and compassion of adults living and working with challenging kids.  It's time they were recognized!
