The PURE 60 Challenge has launched!

Now let's go over a few PURE 60 Challenge Rules and "Things to Do:"
  1. REPORT CARDS - if you have not received one yet, please ask for one at the front-desk.  It includes a Free Class Card for your best friend!  Use your Report Card as a Yoga Class Planner.  Show it off to your friends and co-workers, but keep it in a safe place.  This Report Card is your official membership to the PURE 60 Challenge.
  2. POSTERBOARDS have been placed at all three studios (Cedar Park's is coming soon!) with all of our 10 Team Rosters.  Early on in each week, please write-in the total number of classes you have taken the week prior (Monday through Sunday) so that your team captains can keep track of team totals.  Note that the first report period is 1/1 (Saturday) through 1/9 (Sunday).
  3. Take 60 classes between January 1 and March 13 (72 day span).  This includes Beginner's and Advanced Class at any of our studios.  We are happy to report that the three San Antonio studios and three PURE Bikram Yoga studios (Cedar Park, Downtown, and Westlake) offer reciprocal memberships for PURE 60 Challengers who travel to/from these two great cities during the Challenge Season!  Simply show your Report Card and valid identification when you are in the other city, and your class is complimentary!
  4. WHEN YOU ARE OUT OF TOWN, look for a Bikram Yoga studio and class on www.bikramyoga.com.  It is always fun to take class in another city.  Remember to have your Report Card signed by the teacher to "certify" your class.  We guarantee that you will receive a really cool reaction from him or her!  If you are traveling to a place without a Bikram Yoga studio nearby, purchase the Bikram CD class (audio, only) and do a class in your hotel room (or on the beach).  Crank up the heat and give it a go.  You'll find that it is much more difficult than taking a class in the studio.  Also remember to mark it down on your Report Card.  Honor system!
  5. NO TRIPLES!  Last year we had several people take three or more classes a day for several days.  This year, NOT ALLOWED!  No more than a double will count on any one day.  Take care of yourself and pace your classes over the Challenge Season.  We are building up a consistent practice.
  6. HYDRATION & ELECTROLYTES - an encouraging reminder to give yourself the tools to successfully complete this intense physical practice.  Check out our Electrolyte Stamina Tablets and packs, Endura rehydration powder, NUUN tablets/tubes, and Yoga Fuel capsules in addition to your coconut water.
  7. ARRIVE EARLY, PRINT YOUR NAME CLEARLY, AND SCAN YOUR KEY TAG.  This saves our front-desk valuable time and allows us to better serve your needs.  Parking can be tough, especially Downtown, so take advantage of the parking garage at the Gables Pressler building.  Also be courteous to our local neighbors and watch the parking signs.
  8. KICK UP YOUR CHALLENGE - think of ways to bend your mind as well as your body!
    1. practice in different spots in the room at all three of our studios and take a class from every teacher - practice non-attachment
    2. get into the classroom 10 minutes early and also remain in savasana for 10 minutes after class - try it for one entire week!
    3. disconnect for a weekend - try giving up your cellphone and email
    4. change is good - avoid caffeine, alcohol or another habit for a week
    5. read Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda or one of Bikram's books
  9. RELAX WITH MASSAGE!  Our Downtown studio has a massage room a half block away, available at all hours of the day.  Get those knots out with these talented body workers:

  10. ONLINE ACCOUNT.  Set up your online access account so that you can check your classes taken, add funds to your drink/towel/mat rental account, or even purchase gift certificates for a friend or family member.
  11. FACEBOOK AND TWITTER.  Join us by clicking the link at the top.  We will set up a PURE 60 Challenge Discussion Board on Facebook and start posting inspirational quotes, articles, student testimonials, PURE 60 Challenge Raffle winners, and special announcements.
  12. SYNERGY WORKSHOPS Feb. 5 and 6 - Francisco Morales-Bermudez brings his world-famous partner yoga / acro-yoga workshop to our Downtown studio on Saturday and Sunday, 2/5 and 2/6, from 11:30am to 2:30pm.  Cost for the 3- hour workshop is $50 per person.  PURE 60 Challengers will be given a week's priority to sign up for either of these two dates, first-come, first-served.  Stay tuned for details.
  13. MIDTERM CELEBRATION Feb. 12 - Saturday night venue(s) to be announced.  Plan to start around 7pm.
  14. MARCH 13th FINAL CLASS.  We are still finalizing the local Austin venue, but plan ahead for this Sunday class led by Craig Villani, the former head of teacher training for Bikram's Yoga College of India in Los Angeles, CA.  You don't want to miss this event.  We will hold our final PURE 60 Challenge Raffle and have lots of fun.  Last year we held the class at St. Stephen's Episcopal School and had 250 students partake.  This will be a final donation-based class, so everyone is welcome; challengers, friends, family, all of Austin!
