Mayor-elect Anthony Foxx (Charlotte, NC)

Mayor-elect Anthony Foxx

While commentators were paying too much attention to Republican victories in New Jersey and Virginia, Democrats scored a major victory in the Republican-friendly South. Charlotte City Councilman Anthony Foxx defeated his Republican colleague on the council to become the next mayor. The last time that a Democrat was elected mayor of Charlotte was 22 years ago when Harvey Gantt served as mayor. To watch Anthony's victory speech click here. National Polling Summary
Welcome to the Anzalone Liszt Research National Polling Summary, a quick look at national public polls detailing key political environmental measures as well as attitudes of voters on the pressing issues of the week.

Last weekend America witnessed the most significant action on healthcare reform the country has seen since the creation of Medicare over 40 years ago.  After passing landmark healthcare legislation in the House, all attention turns to Majority Leader Reid and Senate Democrats. Despite several tumultuos months, Democrats are controlling the healthcare debate and are one step closer to helping American families gain healthcare stability in their lives.  With only 19% of Americans having confidence in the Congressional GOP to make the right decisions for the country's future, the biggest threat to Democrats is not the Republicans - but inaction.
