Charlie Melancon for Senate (LA)
Charlie Melancon

Charlie Melancon is a former small businessman, head of Louisiana's Sugar Industry Association, and a three-term congressman from Louisiana's third district.  Charlie played a pivotal role in disaster relief and reconstruction after Hurricane Katrina.  Charlie recently announced his decision to take on Senator David Vitter in 2010. Charlie is running for Senate because he is tired of seeing partisan politics hold Louisiana back, and as a conservative Democrat he has worked with Republicans and Democrats to find solutions for Louisiana's working families. He will do the same in the U.S. Senate. If you would like to learn more about Charlie Melancon and his campaign for the U.S. Senate visit him  here.

National Polling Summary
Welcome to the Anzalone Liszt Research National Polling Summary, a quick look at national public polls detailing key political environmental measures as well as attitudes of voters on the pressing issues of the week.

Afghanistan has been the only issue for months to eclipse healthcare on the news and it has dominated media coverage during the last week.  In the wake of the Iraq War, the American people have mixed emotions on the war in Afghanistan and the possibility of a troop surge.

Healthcare is still a hot topic and getting hotter now that the reality of floor debate is close at hand in both the Senate and the House. Voters feel that President Obama has been much more bipartisan than congressional Republicans, and people still trust President Obama over republicans on reforming the system. A strong majority still feels it is more important than ever to have health care reform now.

Enjoy,
