Rep. Ron Klein

As the son of a small business owner and a schoolteacher, Ron Klein knows the meaning of hard work. Ron has worked hard for the people of South Florida as a civic leader, and as an elected official. Ron has taken this work ethic to Congress where he has fought for South Florida families. In 2007, as a freshman Representative Ron helped craft and pass the Homeowners' Defense Act, which will help families afford homeowners insurance. Ron understands that times are tough for South Florida families, and that is why he is working diligently to help create jobs and put the economy back on track. National Polling Summary
Welcome to the Anzalone Liszt Research National Polling Summary, a quick look at national public polls detailing key political environment measures as well as attitudes of voters on the pressing issues of the week.  We hope that this summary will be helpful to you and your clients.

With Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination running smoothly, the key issue this week is still healthcare, including key votes in the House and Senate. President Obama is still the most credible messenger on this issue and voters in general are in favor of major reform, a public option, and support paying for it by a tax on the wealthy and requiring employers to chip in.  If Democrats stay focused on bringing costs down for families, increased competition and stress that individual insurance coverage won't change, we will have a strong message for the American people.

Enjoy,

NBC/ WSJ: Now I am going to tell you more about the health care plan that President Obama supports and please tell me whether you would favor or oppose it. The plan requires that health insurance companies cover people with pre-existing medical conditions. It also requires all but the smallest employers to provide health coverage for their employees, or pay a percentage of their payroll to help fund coverage for the uninsured. Families and individuals with lower - and middle-incomes would receive tax credits to help them afford insurance coverage. Some of the funding for this plan would come from raining taxes on wealthier Americans. Do you favor or oppose this plan?

Companies that did not use all their permits could sell them to other companies. The idea is that many companies would find ways to put out less greenhouse gases, because that would be cheaper than buying permits. Would you support or oppose this system? CNN/ ORC: A proposal called 'cap and trade' would allow the federal government to limit the emissions from industrial facilities such as power plants and factories that some people believe cause global warming. Companies that exceed the limit could avoid fines or higher taxes by paying money to other companies that produced fewer emissions than allowed. Would you favor or oppose this proposal?
