Woodbridge, VA (June 15, 2011) - Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center is offering American Red Cross babysitting classes throughout the summer. For 8 hours, future babysitters learn the skills needed for fulfilling the role of child caretakers. Three classes will be offered on June 18th, July 23rd, and August 20th starting at 8:30 a.m. for $65 per course.
In the Babysitting I classes, instructors will train participants, ages 11 to 15 years old, in ways to communicate about safety and rules, to respond to a fire, and to take care of infants and young children. Students will have hands on experience in practicing skills in leadership, safety, basic care, first aid, and professionalism.
For the experienced babysitter who has already attended the class but want to be certified, the Chinn Center is offering the American Red Cross Baby Sitter Training II course, on June 25th or July 30th at 8:30 a.m. Participants will learn more advanced skills such as child and infant CPR during the Baby Sitter Training II course.
To earn a certificate, babysitters must demonstrate all skills and pass a written test with the minimum score of 80%. They must also bring their baby sitter handbook which was required at the Baby Sitter Training course previously. The 6 hour class is $60 per individual.
