Here's a great way to help out at House of Hope and meet more people. We're looking for men and women who want to be ushers, either on a regular ushering team or by joining our substitute list. If you've been an usher already, you know the drill. If you've never ushered, it's easy and we'll train you. If this interests you or you have questions, please contact either Usher Co-chair Don Vandenberg at dsvandenberg1737@yahoo.com or Deacon Moderator Kathe Bolinder at kpncamelot@comcast.net. Or just call the church office,651-227-6311. Remember, you don't need to be a deacon to be an usher.

Great Decisions June 15: "Kenya and R2P*"
GREAT DECISIONS, 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, in the Church Library. Post-election rioting in Kenya in December 2007 brought pressure on Nairobi, from international and regional diplomats, to end tensions and avert bloodshed on a massive scale. What lessons can be learned from the intervention in Kenya? What does it mean for the UN's emerging "responsibility to protect" doctrine? Our presenter will be LaJune Thomas Lange, a retired judge from the Fourth Judicial District in Minnesota (Hennepin County) who is an internationally recognized expert on human rights and the role of law in developing countries. She has served as consultant to the Independent High Court of Nigeria, High Court of Malawi, and the Kenya Law Society. She has been involved in education programs for the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe, the family court of Morocco, and was invited to assist in the 2007 Kenya election crisis. She is currently directing a post-conflict documentation project in Rwanda. She teaches Human Rights and has been appointed the Republic of South Africa's Honorary Consul in Minnesota. She is a Senior Fellow at the Humphrey School of International Affairs. She is a graduate of Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota Law School. Great Decisions is a discussion group based on topics provided by the Foreign Policy Association, with speakers recommended by the Minnesota International Center. Guests are welcome. For more information, please call Bob Mairs, 651-222-3423, Dennis Anderson, 651-730-4003, or the church office, 651-227-6311.
*The RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT ("RtoP" or "R2P") is a new international security and human rights norm to address the international community's failure to prevent and stop genocides, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity.
