The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday,
June 13, at 10 a.m. worship. In the Presbyterian Church (USA) all baptized persons, including children, are welcome to participate in Holy Communion.

Jeremiah Program
June 10
Cook for Kids
The Jeremiah program offers affordable housing, life skills education, empowerment training and early childhood education to women while they live on the Jeremiah campus and complete post-secondary education.
On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, volunteers cook and serve a meal to Jeremiah residents after Moms attend Life Skills classes. House of Hope volunteers will Cook on Thursday, June 10. Summer Carillon
Recital Series
Begins July 4
The 2010 Summer Carillon Recital Series begins Sunday, July 4, at 4 p.m. with a recital by Amy Johansen (Woodford, New South Wales, Australia). Ms. Johansen attained Carillonneur status in the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA) in 2006. She has degrees in Organ Performance from the University of Florida and the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Amy is an Assistant Carillonneur and University Organist at the University of Sydney, Australia. This is her first appearance at House of Hope.
Carillon recitals can be heard from the church lawns. Bring a blanket or chair, your family and friends, and a picnic lunch to enjoy while you listen to the lovely sounds of the Noyes Memorial Carillon. If weather proves uncooperative, there are always comfortable locations inside where the recitals can be heard.

Congregation calls Joann Lee to be Associate Pastor
At the congregational meeting on June 6, the congregation of The House of Hope voted unanimously to call Joann H. Lee as Associate Pastor for Family and Young Adult Ministries. This successful conclusion to a comprehensive search was celebrated with refreshments on the Church lawn following the meeting. Joann will be presented for membership into the Twin Cities Area Presbytery in July with a service of installation to be scheduled in the fall. It is anticipated that Joann will begin work at The House of Hope on August 23.

Mary McNamara to Preach June 27
MARY McNAMARA, president of United Theological Seminary, will preach on Sunday, June 27. Prior to joining United in 2009, Mary was the executive vice president of Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She grew up in Cambridge, Minnesota, is a graduate of Carleton College and Harvard Divinity School, and is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Go Behind the Scenes June 13
with the Capital Campaign Steering Committee
 Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the nooks and crannies of the church on Sundays, June 13, July 11 and August 8. Immediately following the worship service, gather at the Welcome Center by the Cloister Art Gallery. Doug Wakefield will lead tours of the Bell Tower, the Basement and interesting points in between. The tour will provide an up-close and personal look at some of the potential areas of renovation being considered as part of our Capital Campaign. |

Volunteer For Women's Advocates June 17
WOMEN'S ADVOCATES shelter for battered women serves nearly 1,000 women and children a year. Women are given emergency shelter, food, clothing and personal items as well as support and counseling. Children are given child care; safety plans; support groups; education and counseling; animal-assisted intervention and art therapy; and facilitation of school enrollment, transportation and tutoring. The Rose Program helps families move into permanent, stable housing and gives care and support services after women and children move out of the shelter. A group of women under the leadership of House of Hope member Liz Boyd volunteers every Third Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 pm. They do a craft project or play bingo with the women and children, and then provide a treat for them. At the Presbyterian Homes of Roseville, on the third Friday of each month, there is an opportunity for parents and children to interact with senior adults. Summer Program for Preschoolers June 21-24
"Celebrating God's World with
Music" will be offered Monday through Thursday, June 21-24 from 9 a.m.
to 12 noon. Music, movement, crafts, Bible stories, and games are all
part of this enriching week that also offers lots of fun for children
age 3 through Kindergarten. The primary leader for this program is
Sarah Hagstrom, who holds both a B.A. and M.A. in voice from USC, and
has much experience working with preschool children using both songs
and movement activities. Sarah is the daughter of Paige Hagstrom,
director of the House of Hope Preschool.

Habitat for Humanity Faith Builders
June 21- July 2
 HABITAT FOR HUMANITY-FAITHBUILDERS. Our Summer Habitat for Humanity project with Faith Builders (a coalition of six churches in St. Paul) will begin in June. We will work for two weeks, from Monday through Friday, June 21 through July 1, on a project located at 875 Jessie Street in St. Paul. Work days are from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The coalition will need a crew of up to 12 people each day, and volunteers can work from as little as one day or every day for the full two weeks. People of all experience levels are welcomed. No construction experience is necessary; training, tools & materials, and lunch are provided. If you do not want to do construction work, we need site hosts each day and we are also need people to help with the food committee from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.

THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE PC(USA) will meet in Minneapolis July 3-10, 2010, for the first time in over 25 years. The assembly consists of elected representatives of all the presbyteries in the denomination. Many volunteers are needed for this week of meetings and events. Available jobs include: worship usher, Communion servers, airport welcome, hotel welcome, registration hosts, information booth, tour assistant, prayer partner, exhibit hall monitor, and many more.
