Holy Communion
April 11
The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at the 8:30 and 10 a.m. services on Sunday, April 11. In the Presbyterian Church (USA) all baptized persons, including children, are welcome to participate in the sacrament. Elements served are bread and grape juice. For those who require them, gluten-free wafers are available from the servers upon request.

Volunteer at a
Shelter for Women and Children
April 15
The Third Thursday Group is looking for volunteers of all ages to join us at the Women's Advocates shelter. Do not underestimate the value of a kind word or gesture to women and children in transition.
April 15 activity: picture frames for Mother's Day. We also always have crayons, markers and something to color. There are
always lots of little ones who want to play games or share a good book
and a snack.

Loaves & Fishes

The Saints will serve a Loaves and Fishes dinner on Monday, April 19, at Faith Lutheran Church, Charles and Mackubin Streets in St. Paul. In April, The Cloister Art Gallery will feature the works of our talented artist members. This show, an annual favorite, is always surprising and impressive. The works are in a variety of media and cover a range of mood--from the humorous to the sublime. The gallery can be visited during office hours and on Sunday mornings. Didier Seminar

Mark your calendar for the DIDIER SEMINAR, April 23, 24 and 25, 2010. The guest speaker will be The Reverend Dr. Cynthia Bourgeault, Episcopal priest, author, Principal Teacher for the Contemplative Society, and past fellow of the Institute for Ecumenical and Cultural Research at St. John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota. She will speak on the topic "Meditation and Visionary Seeing in the Christian Tradition." The Didier Seminar is free and open to the public.

Book Study April 7, 14 and 21
The Wisdom Jesus by Cynthia Bourgeault
 This Wednesday Evening book study features Cynthia Bourgeault's The Wisdom Jesus: Transforming Heart and Mind--A New Perspective on Christ and His Message. It will be led by Sister Virginia Matter, Spiritual Director at The Benedictine Center in Maplewood. Sister Virginia has experience in several spiritual traditions, including monastic, Buddhist, Hindu, Native American and Christian. Join us from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Kirk Parlour. Hard Hats April 8
 The HARD HATS gather in the Assembly Room at 9 a.m. on Thursday, April 8. This group of volunteers works hard to help keep the facilities and grounds in good condition. They work on a task list provided by Facilities Manager Doug Wakefield. Work is coordinated by crew chief, Erv Lentz. Newcomers are always welcome. Faith Partners Enrichment Program April 11
Work Addiction
 A program on "Work Addiction," sponsored by Faith Partners, will be presented at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, in the Elizabeth Chapel. Like other addictions, excessive work can make a person's life unmanageable. People with work addictions lose their life balance and often sacrifice their relationships with family and friends. The presenter will be Bruce F., a retired pastor in recovery from work addiction, who served Lutheran congregations for 38 years. Faith Partners is a House of Hope ministry providing educational programs, resource information, outreach and support to people affected by addiction.

The Dead Sea Scrolls April 11
Puzzles of Antiquity: The Meaning of the Dead Sea Scrolls for the Bible, Judaism, and Christianity. The Dead Sea Scrolls have been hailed as the greatest archaeological discovery of the 20th century. What makes these 2,000 year-old documents so remarkable and critically important? On Sunday, April 11, Dr. Calvin Roetzel, Professor of New Testament and Early Christian Studies at the University of Minnesota, will speak at House of Hope's Adult Enrichment program on the background of the Dead Sea Scrolls and their significance for contemporary Christianity.

Parents Night Out April 17
On Saturday April 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. parents can enjoy a night out on the town while supporting the Youth Program at The House of Hope. High School Youth will babysit your children ages 6 months to 10 years old (supervised by adult chaperones). Cost is $20 per child, maximum $40 per family. Proceeds will support the High School mission trip this summer.

disasters such as earthquakes, floods, fires, and storms; and for those who have experienced deeply personal and often quiet disasters that require a gift of
