Greetings!
Next school year will see major changes to our students' service hour program. The new service hour form will be online as of May 28 at the school's web site. ALL SERVICE HOURS MUST BE PRE-APPROVED STARTING WITH THE 2012/2013 school year, even for school events. No longer will we accept a list of names for an organization that ran a project. Here are some of the notable changes to the program. MAJOR CHANGES TO THE SERVICE HOUR PROGRAM
AT TAMPA CATHOLIC The following are the highlights of the changes to the service hour program: - The number of service hours is increasing for Juniors and Seniors in order to meet the requirements of the Bright Future Scholarship. Starting with the 2012/2013 school year students will be required to complete 30 hours each Junior and Senior year.
- Pre-approval of service hours will ALWAYS be required in order to receive credit for hours performed. The only exception would be for summer hours but there is a danger the hours will not meet approval when they are turned in. The official service hour form must always be used for pre-approval and the recording of service hours. A copy of the new form will be available on line sometime prior to the end of May.
- There is a change in the type of service hours to be performed. Fifty percent of the required first quarter service hours and the cumulative hours for future quarters must meet the requirement of performing a CORPORAL WORK OF MERCY (Feed the hungry, Give drink to the thirsty, Clothe the naked, Shelter the homeless, Visit the sick, Visit the imprisoned, Bury the dead). Hands on activity with people, not things, will be emphasized.
- As part of the student's growth in respect to the changes to the service hour program, a reflection paper will be required as part of the second semester theology exam covering service hours performed in the area of Corporal Works of Mercy.
- In the future, there will be a penalty for not turning in the required number of service hours by the date detailed on the school calendar. Hours not turned in on the date required will incur an additional three hour penalty with an additional hour added for every day the hours are not turned in.
In addition to this notice, I am going into all theology classes this week and next week to review the new policies with our current students. Summer Baseball Tryouts:
Tryouts for boys summer baseball will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 10:00AM at the Crusader Baseball Complex. All current and incoming TC students are welcome to participate in the tryouts.

Dance & Twirl Team Summer Camps
Dance Camp 2012: will be held June 11 and 12 in the Tampa Catholic Gym from 9 to 3. Ages 5 - 13. Cost is $55 and includes a T-shirt. Campers will have the opportunity to perform with the Crusaderettes at a halftime show during the Football season! Cheerleading Camps
Our 2012 Youth Cheerleading Camp will be held on Wednesday June 13 - Friday June 15 in the TC gym from 8am-3pm each day. Click here for flyers. Flyers also available in the main office. As the school year comes to a close, I hope you had a good experience volunteering at Tampa Catholic. We appreciate all you have done to make our events a success. We know we could not have done it without your help. We love having our parents come out and mingle with other TC parents and get to know each other a little better.

May 24 - Faculty/Staff End of Year Luncheon 11:00am to 1:00pm Crusader Hall
- Need 4 large salads, 6 bowls of cooked vegetables, 3 cases of water and 10 pies.
- Also needed are $5 and $10 gift cards to serve as door prizes for the luncheon. (Examples are grocery stores, coffee houses, Bed Bath & Beyond, restaurants. This is a quick way to fulfill your service hours if you have not already done so)
