Prostate Conditions Education Council (PCEC) is pleased to be a teammate of ON THE LINE, a new initiative that will use the powers of sports entertainment to encourage men to get off the sideline and take charge of their health.
It takes a powerful team to motivate men to take a proactive role in managing their health and ON THE LINE has brought together a winning team of organizations, partners, sports legends, commentators and celebrities to launch prostate cancer to the forefront as critical men's health issues. Through commercials and interviews, the programs all-star cast of sports and entertainment personalities including coaching legend Digger Phelps, basketball coaching legends Bob Knight and John Thompson, and ESPN's commentator Erin Andrews, whose father is a prostate cancer survivor - will drive home the message that men need to get in the game and take charge of their health.
When my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer," states Erin Andrews, "I wanted to know all about the disease. I only wish that there had been a campaign like ON THE LINE then, to provide information and resources all in one place. Being around so many men for my job, I can tell that prostate cancer is a tough thing to talk about, but it's definitely time to bring the topic out of the shadows. Using sports figures is genius, and I expect that this campaign will score big."
ON THE LINE offers men, their family and friends important information about prostate cancer and health information through an exciting sports-themed platform. ESPN is the primary media vehicle for ON THE LINE and there's no better way to get men to pay attention to a topic than by using the clever humor of the #1 sports source in the world To further get men interested and drive them to action, ON THE LINE will provide information about prostate cancer via a range of assets and materials that leverage sports vernacular and humor. These include the ON THE LINE web site, which will provide up-to-date health information about prostate cancer using sports themes, and games that keep men engaged, such as a sports ticker and fantasy leagues. An ON THE LINE magazine will also be available in doctors' offices nationwide.
Recognizing the important role women play, the ON THE LINE program has also developed an equally engaging women's focused side to the web site. Women will find advice on keeping the men you care about and the entire family healthy, along with a quiz to help assess whether your "guy's" health is ON THE LINE and more.
" As the founder and coordinator of the national Prostate Cancer Awareness Week (PCAW) Program, that has provided free prostate cancer screenings to nearly 5,000,000 men across the country, we are thrilled to be a part of such an exciting program," states Wendy Poage, President of The Prostate Conditions Education Council. "ON THE LINE will be a tremendous help in our ongoing efforts to reach men and the women in their lives about prostate cancer and participating in early detection for the disease."
