Prostate Conditions Education Council
December 2010

A Year In Review.

As a leading innovative organization in the industry,  the Prostate Conditions Education Council  continues to Set the PACE in prostate health as we advanced our  early detection, research and awareness programs.  Not only did 2010 prove to be an important year for prostate cancer patients due to the approval of several new treatment options.  It was also a significant year  as PCEC developed and launched new initiatives having a positive impact on men, their families and prostate health.

PCEC has long been the leader in the development of innovative programs and we are proud to have continued this trend through the year, creating the platforms nearly every other non-profit organization looks to PCEC to provide.  We are pleased to share a few highlights below.

     Prostate Cancer Awareness Week:

*Our flagship program increased free screening centers across the country by 25% allowing even more men to receive free prostate cancer and prostate health screenings. To date nearly 5 million men have been screened during Prostate Cancer Awareness Week.

*In response to our screening sites and partners PCEC formally expanded our program  to allow for  more compressive men's health screenings.

          Research:

*Prostate Cancer Awareness Week has yielded valuable information and we are pleased to have  had more than 10 abstracts accepted at national medical meetings, in the last two years!  Several of these have received special recognition at media sessions and in post meeting publications.

*Look for our most recent publication looking at statins and the PSA blood test, in Urology.

          SET the PACE:

The SET the PACE in Prostate Cancer initiative was launched to incorporate even more awareness and educational programs, now including:

o   The Set the PACE RACE series, the nations

oldest race series for prostate cancer.

o   Our In This Together program reaches women

who play such an  important role supporting the

     prostate health cause.

o   The Knowledge is Power program providing

information on the benefits and risks associated

with prostate cancer screening and early

     detection.

We would like to express our deep appreciation to our Council our Screening Sites, our Supporters and to each of you who helped make this year such a success.

Happy Holidays!
