Greetings!
Have you ever picked up your guitar and started to play a well-worn song, only to stop and think..."ugh, I just can't play this song one more time..."
Well, what if you could integrate some freshness into that great song? What if you could make it sound different to you ears and to the ears of those you lead in worship, once again inspring worshipers to sing out?
Or have you ever tried to tackle a hymn on your guitar? Sometimes you want the hymn to sound like a hymn, but you can't quite play it. Sometimes you want to enjoy the richness of the the text and the familiarity of the melody, but the typical musical accompaniment makes you want to stick a fork in your eye. (I'm just sayin')
Well, that's exactly what we're going to learn at tomorrow night's Free Acoustic Guitar Workshop from Lanco Worship Link.
No registration is necessary, so leave your fork at home and bring your guitar this Wednesday night from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the beautiful and reverberant, main sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church at 140 East Orange Street in Lancaster. You can park for free on the street or in the parking lot next to it on Cherry Street. Enter the building on Orange Street. If you need more help getting there, call me at (717) 468-6428.

Oh, and did you miss the last Acoustic Guitar Workshop? It has this great demonstration of how songs can be played with the same strum. It's great to get medley ideas from CCLI's top 100 songs. You can listen to it here.

Worship Team Retreat
So pick a spot, pick a date, we'll do the rest. Ah, rest. Yep. Even you as the leader will get a rest. We'll lead times of worship, sharing, and teaching. You can pick the topics or we'll suggest one based on your church's needs. We'll even let you design the fun times...group games and activities (you know best what your team loves to do!)
And yes, we can even help find another worship team to lead at your home church while you're away. Simply reply to this email or contact retreat@adlibmusic.com.
Hear what two Worship Pastors said...
"Having Dave lead at our retreat was a great experience for our entire team, and it allowed me to do what worship pastors should do at such an event - retreat. I was able to step back from leading and enjoy time with my team without having to develop and prepare all of our group sessions, worship times, etc. What Dave presented was practical, timely, and God-inspired - we are still talking about what an awesome time we had together!"
Scott Byrom, Worship Pastor at Ephrata First United Methodist Church
"It was refreshing to release the leadership responsibility of a team retreat. Dave brought a unique approach to our retreat that opened each of us up individually to what God wanted to do with us as a worship team. Dave was intentional and prepared but not scripted or controlled by an agenda. His Spirit led teaching style through word and worship, and his desire to seek God desperately, enabled us to experience God's movement in a powerful way."
Dean Sensenig, Director of Worship & Music at Ephrata Church of the Brethren

Clear Conference: October 21-22
Come together with other worship leaders, pastors, designers and techs for hands-on training you can put directly to use in your own worship environment. Learn how to think, plan, process and dream together, improve your communication with and understanding of each other, hear from local and national instructors and make connections with others who share your passion! Because we are called to make the message CLEAR.
Whether you're paid or a volunteer at your church, ministry, or non-profit, everyone - pastors, leaders, vocalists, instrumentalists, audio techs, visual designers, and media producers will benefit. The more diverse your team, the greater the advantage of experiencing unified training and new ideas under one 'roof.'
Did you get that? Don't send your pastor to one conference, your tech to another, and your worship leader to a third and have them try to interpret their experiences to each other. Send them all together to one conference!
As a bonus, on Friday night, enjoy a concert with the Charlie Hall band! Over the last decade, Charlie Hall has become both a renowned worship leader and a voice for the lost, the broken, the unlovely.
Date: Friday and Saturday, October 21 & 22, 2011
Location: Manheim BIC Church - 54 N Penryn Rd in Manheim, PA 17545
(and yes, Dave Helmuth will be teaching some of the breakout sessions)
