Wishing You a Happy New Year!

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
And to make an end is to make a beginning.
~T.S. Eliot, "Little Gidding"

Still Thinking About Purchasing an e Reader

The library owns a Nook. Borrow it for a week and see how you like it. There are still a lot of "real books" available for browsing and borrowing but for those people who like to carry a large number of books in a small package, eBooks are available to download from the library webpage

The New Year begins with some of the literary world's best-selling authors  starting right out of the gates with fast-paced thrillers and suspense novels.

The Rope by Nevada Barr - A new installment in the Anna Pigeon series.  Nevada Barr finally puts Anna's past together and fills in missing pieces to answer questions  for her readers about  what led up to Anna becoming a forest ranger.   It all started with a hiking trip that left Anna waking up at the bottom of an abandoned well, naked and alone, not remembering how she got there.

Gideon's Corpse by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child - the second book in the new Preston & Child series featuring Gideon Crew.  If you like a fast paced thriller of a read then this new series is for you.  Gideon is on the hunt for a terrorist cell that is sweeping across the nation and our new hero has only ten days in which to stop the annihilation of America.

Private #1 Suspect  by James Patterson -  Jack Morgan, former Marine helicopter pilot, started a private investigating firm which caters mostly to the rich and famous to carefully handle their problems. When one of Jack's former lovers is found dead in his bed the local police are fast to assume Jack as their number one suspect.  Simultaneously Jack finds himself involved with the mob and investigating murders occurring throughout a hotel chain.   Another fast read by the world famous author. And be ready for the next installment in this series available in mid-February, in which the Olympics in London are the setting.

Love in a Nutshell by Janet Evanovich- & Dorien Kelly- Kate isn't ready to face the changes in her life and retreats to her family's summer home, The Nutshell, in upstate Michigan to nurture her problems.  She plans to turn the home into a bed and breakfast but first she must find a job, since having been fired from her old one and her husband walking out on her.  Enter Matt Culhane, the owner of the local brewery who suspects sabotage at his plant.  He makes Kate an offer she can't refuse, spy on his employees for him and if she can find the rascal he will pay her a bonus of $20,000.00.  Only problem, Kate can't stand the taste of beer, her co-workers don't trust her and she's falling for her boss.

Worth Fighting For: Love, Loss, and Moving Forward by Lisa Niemi Swayze- the wife of the late Patrick Swayze recounts her life with him during the final months that they shared, as well as memories of their thirty- four year marriage and teenage courtship.
