"A More Perfect Union" Bookshelf
The library was awarded a
We the People Bookshelf
from the National Endowment for the Humanities in conjunction with the American Library Association. The We the People Bookshelf is a collection of seventeen classic hardcover books for young readers related to the theme "A More Perfect Union."
As the American people begin observing the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, NEH seeks to promote reflection among young people on the idea of the United States as a "union." The Heermance Memorial Library invites you to submit an essay or artwork on this theme and what it meant for our ancestors or what it means to us today. The winner will receive a $25 itunes card. Essays or artwork must be submitted by November 29th to the Heermance Memorial Library of the Coxsackie Athens Middle School Library.
On Wednesday November 17th at 7:00P, in conjuction with this theme Shelby Mattice, curator of the Bronck Museum, will be speaking on the "Coxsackie Declaration." |
