A few weeks ago, a library patron donated a short stack of books. They included one children's book and a few others. However, out of all the books, the smallest in the pile ended up containing the greatest wealth.
This little book is filled with all of the basic wisdom that we need to live and to set examples for our children in leading meaningful lives. Too often in our hurry to keep up with everyday events; our jobs, our children's schedules, household chores and a much faster paced world that continues to escalate, we sometimes need to stop and reflect on those sometime hidden values that keep us grounded.
"The Seventeen Traditions" by Ralph Nader is just that. Each chapter describes a certain tradition that has come to shape our lives and make us the individuals each of us has become and the importance of passing these traditions down to our children. Although it is not a new book the quality of its material is timeless. A must read for parents or for those of us who just need to be reminded of our journey to now.
