Dear Member of the
International Olympic Committee:
This letter from today's Chicago Sun-Times sums up what most people here are feeling.
An Olympic-sized risk for taxpayers
Once again, the Mayor Daley cadre has universally
rubber stamped a taxpayer obligation to foot any Olympic overruns should
Chicago get the 2016 Games. Alderman Joe Moore had the nerve to make an
impassioned speech declaring that the citizens are correct to question
this obligation but voted for it anyway. Talk about gutless. Talk is
cheap. The Olympics will be very, very expensive.
