The Recorder's office sorted, scanned, indexed and filed more than 9,000 military records of Lake County's men and women soldiers.
The award was presented by Michael Peck, Superintendent of the Veteran's Assistance Commission and Allen Lynch, Medal of Honor Recipient.
Michael Peck said, "This has been a three year dream of the Veteran's Assistance Commission. The backlog was overwhelming and Mary Ellen and her staff stepped up and completed the project in three months."
"As the keeper of the military paperwork, we assist our veterans every day. Completing this project was an honor and we were happy to help," said Vanderventer.
