County Board Pays Tribute to Retiring DOT Director
At its May meeting, the Lake County Board recognized long-time Lake County Division of Transportation (DOT) Director Marty Buehler for his 39 years of dedicated service with a special resolution. Marty will retire at the end of May. Board members praised Marty for his leadership and contributions toward improving transportation in Lake County and the region over three decades. Marty started his career with DOT as an intern and was named Lake County's first Traffic Engineer in 1975, and subsequently appointed County Engineer in 1984. During his tenure, the county highway system has progressed from a rural road network to a modern, safe, urban arterial highway system. Additionally, more than 50 miles of new bike trails have been built in Lake County during his tenure, as well as the region's first modern roundabout intersections. Marty has also promoted innovation and supported the use of technology, most notably with the Lake County PASSAGE, the intelligent transportation program which has improved mobility and reduced travel delays for drivers in the county. Is Your Lawn a Water Guzzler?
Every drop counts!

Did you know... more than 50% of commercial and residential irrigation water use goes to waste due to overwatering, evaporation, or runoff? You can help by following your local water usage and restriction ordinance. If your community does not have one, consider watering your lawn no more than twice a week, before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m. Thank you for doing your part to help ensure that our community and neighboring communities have a clean and reliable water source now and for future generations!
