Understanding Your Property Assessment  

Tools, Public Information Meetings and Help Centers

Property owners in Lake County have started receiving their blue assessment notices over the past few weeks. The Chief County Assessment Office has a number of tools available to help property owners understand their assessment notice and this complex process.

 

Chief County Assessment Office website:

  • Find property assessment information, information about property tax relief, and contact information for your township assessor.
  • Use the comparable search tool and interactive mapping functions.
  • Read the "Understanding Your Property Assessment" brochure and FAQ's.
  • Access to many other tools and resources

 

Public Information Meetings:

The Chief County Assessment Officer will explain the property tax process, assessment procedures, explain the use of county website tools used to review an assessment valuation, outline the assessment appeal process and answer property tax related questions from residential property owners.

  • Saturday, Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. - CLC, Grayslake, Building C - Auditorium
  • Saturday, Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. - CLC, Grayslake, Building C - Auditorium

 

Tax Assessment Help Centers:

Residents will work one on one with a member of the Chief County Assessment Office for personal assistance with evaluating their property tax assessment. The county provides valuable web applications to the public, which will be utilized during these sessions. FULL SCHEDULE
