It's 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland and plump teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight, and then launches a campaign to integrate the show. Musical numbers include: Good Morning Baltimore, Mama I'm A Big Girl Now, I Can Hear The Bells, Welcome To The '60s, You Can't Stop The Beat.
BROADWAY RUN & AWARDS: Opened in 2002, ran for over 2500 performances. Won 8 Tony Awards and 9 Drama Desk Awards.
