Spring has finally arrived here in Connecticut - albeit a tad wet!

I'm actually ok with the rain.  I lived in Arizona for awhile many years ago and I remember going months - not days - but months with not a cloud in the sky.  For those of you that know me well, you know that I'm a rather impatient woman.  I get bored very quickly - and that includes dealing with the weather!  I like things to be mixed up a bit, I enjoy the change of seasons.

I thrive on change - but not everyone shares my love of craziness!  I simply wouldn't know what to do with myself if I wasn't going 100 miles an hour in 100 different places. People often wonder when the burn out will happen.  Truth be told, I'm not sure it ever will.  I'm not a sit still kinda' girl.

Speaking of change - I spent the morning with the Litchfield County Board of Realtors for their annual Legislative Breakfast.  The room was filled with Realtors who are BUSY!  The tax credit has prompted quite a few people to throw themselves into the home buying market.  I hope for our friends at LCBR the trend continues.

In closing - let's embrace our rainy spring, knowing that there is a silver lining in everything.  May flowers will soon be here.

 Accidents happen...

 Are you prepared?
Unfortunately, most of us will be involved in some type of auto Litchbotsaccident during our driving lives.  Hopefully the majority will be  simple fender benders - but some will be catastrophic.  All will be unexpected.

Be prepared
  • Make sure you have adequate limits on your auto insurance policy.  Give us a call if you are unsure!
  • Have a current copy of your insurance card in your car at all times.
  • Have an emergency kit in your car - flares, flashlight, jumper cables, blanket, first-aid supplies at minimum
  • Make sure your car is in good working order - tires are not worn, breaks are not worn etc.

If you are in an accident...
  • Call the police - even if you don't think you have damage to your car or you don't think you are hurt
  • Don't leave the scene until the police say it is ok to leave
  • Make sure your car is off the road if you can - make sure you are safe from other traffic

Interacting with other drivers
  • Remain calm and courteous
  • Get his/her name and address, make of car, insurance information
  • Don't accept fault for the accident - let the police decide liability
  • Have your license, registration and insurance ready for the police officer
  • Don't discuss the specifics about the accident with anyone besides the police
  • Don't accept ANY monetary compensation at the accident scene from the others involved in the accident.

What will my insurance carrier want to know?
  • Who was involved
  • The other driver's data that you collected at the scene
  • Property damage and injured parties
  • Each carrier will have specifics that you will need to supply.

Drive safely, be prepared and know what to do if you should be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

What is E&O Coverage and do I really need it?

E&O - Errors and Omissionserror
Professional Liability - Errors and Omissions Insurance protects your company from claims if your client holds you responsible for errors, or the failure of your work to perform as promised in your contract.

 Coverages Include:
  •  Legal defense costs, no matter if the allegations are found false.
  • Payment for any resulting judgments against you, including court costs, up to the coverage limits on your policy.
  • Extension to both W-2 employees and 1099 contractors and can be worldwide.

When would you need to purchase E&O insurance?
  •  It is usually wise to purchase E&O coverage prior to a launch of a product or project, or anytime you have customers which will include most businesses.
  • If you have investors, many will require the coverage to protect their investment.

 The fine print...

Professional Liability - Errors and Omissions Insurance coverage is NOT provided by a Commercial General Liability Policy.  It MUST be purchased separately.

A Commercial General Liability policy does NOT provide any coverage for:

  •  Errors
  • Contract Performance Disputes
  • Any Professional Liability Issues
If you own a company and do not have Errors and Omissions coverage you are taking a BIG risk! Mistakes happen, it is inevitable.

Don't be a victim - take charge of your company's future today with Professional Liability - Errors & Omissions Coverage
