I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday!
As I hit the gym this morning I heard more than one person mumble how they had to work double time this week to work off the turkey, stuffing, pie, wine...oh and did I say pie?
People tend to get frazzled this time of year and lose sight of the "fun of it all"!
MyThanksgiving dinner had its share of glitches -My huge 23+ pound turkey (to feed 6 people) didn't fit into my traditional roasting pan - so I bought one of those tin foil throw away versions - mistake. Mid way through the cooking process I noticed a hole in the roasting pan and my precious soon to be gravy was spilling out onto the bottom of my oven. Amidst the smoke and trying to silence the smoke alarms, I had to put my turkey into my Paella Pan - it was a sight to be seen. My children were hysterical with laughter as I tried to move this huge bird to another pan without spilling anymore future gravy and more importantly without dropping the bird on the floor where my 20 pound cat would have had the feast of all feasts.
Of course my daughter had to capture the moment on film - here is my poor bird with legs hanging over the edge of the pan. I still haven't tackled cleaning the oven!
I could have had a meltdown - but instead chalked it up to one of those great stories I'll have to tell to my grandchildren one day. Oh, in case you anyone is curious - the turkey was delicious and we had PLENTY of gravy!
Our tag line here at Founders Insurance Group is
"We Understand Priceless."
We hope you take the time to sit back and enjoy this time of year and focus on what is truly important - what is priceless in your life. Try not to get frazzled, laugh at the things that go wrong and enjoy the fun of it all!

Gimme Shelter -
Umbrella Policies are a must! |
|
Did you know that the per capita cost of the U.S. Tort system has reached $835, according to the the most recent data from 2007. After adjusting for inflation, this marks a more than eight-fold increase in tort costs since 1950! (Source: 2008 Update on U.S. Tort cost Trends, Towers Perrin.) $835 per person doesn't sound like a lot, but when you take into consideration that the majority of U.S. citizens will never see the inside of a court room or be involved in litigation that means that an unlucky few will face multi-million dollar decisions from a judge. Not a pretty thought if you are one of the unlucky!
No matter how careful you are, you just never know when you will find yourself on the ugly side of a law suit. So how do you protect yourself? A Personal Umbrella Policy.
Details:
- Most insurance companies will require you to purchase the maximum liability coverage available on your homeowners and auto policies before they will issue an umbrella policy
- If you are sued and the judgement exceeds your primary coverage on your home or auto - your umbrella will kick in. If you are handed a judgement of $800,000 and your homeowners policy covers you up to $500,000 then your umbrella policy will pay the remaining $300,000
- Umbrella coverage is fairly inexpensive! Premiums are typically as low as a few hundred dollars for a million dollars in coverage
What do they cover?
- Above and beyond your homeowners and auto policies - Umbrellas can cover medical costs and lost wages you may have to pay as well as your own legal fees and lost wages
- They can cover libel, slander, defamation of character
Contact Founders Insurance Group for more information and details about getting a Personal Umbrella Policy to protect what you value most!
