Hilo Christmas Parade
On Saturday, November 27th, the Development Committee,
volunteers, and some of our Board members participated in
this years Hilo Christmas Parade.  It was great fun and
we look forward to participating in this event again next year!  Unfortunately, we did not get a photo of ourselves, but have
several photos of everyone else in the parade!  We were
obviously caught up in the moment of it all!

Silent Auction - First Annual
Silent Auction 2010

We celebrated our first annual "Silent Auction" at Prince
Kuhio Plaza on December 3, 4, and 5th, in conjunction with
their annual holiday craft fair. We had several items up for
auction, such as gift baskets, art work, dinners, as well as
tours to experience zipline, snorkeling, ATV riding in
Waipio, plus so much more.  Some great deals were had!

We raised over $1,300 and are very thankful to our
volunteers and donors for helping to make this event a
success!

Walmart
Each month Walmart has allowed Habitat for Humanity to have a
booth at their Walmart site in Hilo.  It has been great visibility for
Habitat for Humanity and has given us not only the opportunity to raise funds for Habitat, but also the opportunity to educate people
in the community about what Habitat for Humanity in Hilo is doing!
We will be out in there again in 2011, with our first date scheduled
for Saturday, January 29th.  We are in desperate need of volunteers
who are willing to help staff the booth.  Please contact Michele at
(808) 640-2407 if you are interested in volunteering for this event!

We also want to say "Mahalo" to the Hawaii County, RSVP Volunteer Group, who has helped us many times with staffing, and to our
Development Committee members and volunteers that make these
events possible!

Applications Are In!
In November, Habitat for Humanity in Hilo, announced that
we currently have NAHASDA and OHA funds available for
qualified applicants.

Completed applications were due by 5 p.m. on Saturday,
December 18th to Habitat for Humanity.

We are happy to say that we've received exactly twenty
completed applications!  In our last call for applications we
only received two.

This increase in applications is encouraging, as we work to
better communicate and educate the community on what
Habitat for Humanity in Hilo does through newsletters like
this, Facebook, Twitter and through our local Hawaii Tribune
Herald
, whom we are so thankful to for their support!

Humanity, plus it may have positive tax advantages for you!

your property, please call us at (808) 990-0426.

family in the community of Keaukaha!  Each Saturday from
