November Hightlights
Festival of Giving
Saturday & Sunday, Nov. 21st-22nd
Recently we participated in Prince Kuhio's "Festival of Giving" two day event. We raised approximately $500.00 with the help of 21 Habitat volunteers. The event was not complete without Santa's arrival and a classic car parade around the mall, followed by the toys for tots train, and lots of happy children!

Hilo Habitat ReStore Grand Opening
Hilo Habitat for Humanity kicked off its 20th anniversary celebration with a grand opening on Saturday, November 14th at the our new ReStore warehouse located at 700 Manono Street, one block mauka of Big Island Candies.
In attendance were Jason Scott Lee, Councilman Dennis Onishi and Char Shigemura, executive assistant to Mayor Kenoi.
Current Habitat President, Julie Hugo and Founders Rev. Susumu Yamane, Gary Bartolomo and Amy Shiroma (not pictured) also joined the festivities.
Rev. Yamane opened with prayer and a ceremonial lei cutting was performed by current Habitat President Julie Hugo. Free hot dogs and drinks were provided throughout the celebration, as attendees enjoyed music and the Alu Like hula halau.
Former president Stacy Hargrove, who died unexpectedly while in office, was honored by a memorial speech from Gary Batolome and a display of beautiful plants with her photograph were displayed in the ReStore.
If you were unable to join us for this event we encourage you to visit the new ReStore, which offers new, leftover, and gently used building materials, appliances, furniture, home goods, and plants, all at 50-90% below retail. Proceeds are used toward building affordable homes in East Hawaii.
