Good Posture Makes Walking Fun
How you
hold your body is important to walking comfortably and easily. With good
posture, you will be able to breathe easier and you will avoid back pain.
-Stand up
straight.
-Think of
being a tall and straight. Do not arch your back.
-Do not lean
forward or lean back. Leaning puts strain on the back muscles.
-Eyes
forward, not looking down, rather 20 feet ahead.
-Chin up
(parallel to the ground). This reduces strain on neck and back.
-Shrug once
and let your shoulders fall and relax, your shoulders slightly back.
-Suck in
your stomach.
-Tuck in your behind and rotate your hip
forward slightly. This will keep you
from arching your back.
Practice good posture as you get
ready for the Habitat for Humanity Walk-a-thon so on the big day, you'll feel
strong and ready.

Where Does Your Walk-a-Thon Money Go?
Thank you for signing up to participate in Walk-a-Thon 2009! Every step you take makes affordable housing in East Hawaii possible.
Of the money that you raise, 80% goes directly toward construction and 20%
is for other affordable housing support services, as well as operations. In 2009-10, your gift will make it possible to build three homes, as well as continuing our Brush With Kindness short-term repairs, preventing homelessness. Thank you for building community with us!
