| RETURN OF THE TIDES | |
The goal of this video is to educate the public about the value of a healthy salt marsh estuary and the expected benefits or restoring the historic tidal range in the Herring River. Thanks to all who participated in the development of this video and particularly to Rachel Smith of Moonshadow Media who produced it for our organization.
Visitors and residents alike will be able to understand the importance of the Herring River Estuary when shortly, they will see our video, with subtitles, on an electronic bulletin board at the Beach Sticker Office in Wellfleet.
Decades of environmental research have shown us that half of US coastal wetlands and salt marsh estuaries have already been lost to development and remaining systems are wedged precariously between inappropriate structures and a rising sea level. As we continue to witness climate change approaching our own doorstep, it is critical that these coastal systems are healthy and protected. |
