A couple of weeks ago, we highlighted some of our prison ministry initiatives during the Sunday morning services. These ministries offer tremendous opportunities to take part in God's work of transforming men and women in the prison system.  There are many more opportunities to serve at the prisons. Below are some of the current opportunities to serve in prison ministry: 

Women's Ministry:  

Brenda Moore is in need of additional women to take part in a pen pal program that she is coordinating. The women inmates who have volunteered for this program have expressed to Brenda a great desire for relationships beyond the walls of the prison system, many of whom have no outside connection. If you are interested in this program, contact Brenda at brendamoore1955@yahoo.com. 

Belinda Cress also has a need for some additional women to do some one-on-one mentoring with prisoners for those who would like to go beyond just pen-pals. Contact Belinda Cress at 794-8815 if you are interested in this opportunity.  

Stand in the Gap:  

This is a men's ministry where a group of men form a discipleship team around an inmate who is about to be released from prison. The discipleship team helps to prepare him for life outside the prison and to make the transition out of the prison system. We currently have two guys being discipled by men from Crossroads. One of these men was released this summer and continues to meet with his discipleship team.  The other inmate is scheduled for release next summer and currently only has one man (Andy Cress) on the discipleship team.  Though we tentatively have a few men signed up to join Andy, there are other inmates awaiting men to come along side them and encourage them.
