The Fig Tree Books
I found October Baby an emotionally raw and inspiring movie. It's about a young woman's journey to find acceptance of herself and overcome heart wrenching news: she was adopted. Truthfully, I was worried about how the movie would take on the delicate subject of abortion without sounding as though it is criticising those who have considered that option.
But the realistic portrayal of the characters and the careful construction of the plot make the focus of the movie forgiveness. And even though I've never been through something like that, I easily related to the main character, Hanna, and the supporting characters were great sources of comic relief, and gave me a moment to breathe between serious sections.
Make sure you watch right to the end of the credits. The directors share the true story of one of the actors - one that will give you goosebumps!
Overall, the great soundtrack, talented actors, well-thought out directing, and a meaningful plot line make this movie one you'll want to watch over again!
