NHBSR 2011 CSR Webinar Series: Call for Proposals

DEADLINE: October 20th, 2010

NHBSR Seeks Presenters for 2011 Webinar Series

The NHBSR Webinar Series offers NHBSR members an innovative opportunity to promote and share Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability best-practices in a real-time, interactive forum. The Webinar Series also enables organizations to connect around CSR issues and learn ways to become more environmentally sustainable, improve workplace culture, and support local communities, while boosting the bottom line.

NHBSR is currently seeking presenters for the 2011 NHBSR Webinar Series. Presenters should be eager to share their knowledge, insight and experience about how businesses can improve their CSR and sustainability practices.

Webinar presentation topics should provide information on one or more of the following topics:

  • Environment - Management systems and compliance, emissions and waste reduction, resource use, climate change, water use, energy efficiency, transportation
  • Community - Employee volunteerism, charitable giving, local economy, sustainable development
  • Workplace - Work/life benefits, occupational safety and health, diversity, professional development, training, employee well-being, accessibility, employee engagement
  • Practices- Transparency and reporting, mission and commitment, education and outreach, measuring and performance, procurement and vendors

*Compelling topics outside this list may also be considered, as deemed appropriate by the committee. Your proposal should indicate why you think the topic is of particular interest to this audience.

Presentations should either be focused on providing cutting-edge information related to one of these topic areas or should provide the audience with a "how to" approach to one of these topics. Webinars may include one presenter or a group of presenters. It will be helpful if topics can address the question: "What does this mean for socially-minded businesses in NH?" Additionally, presenters must be willing to publicize their webinar to their networks, to provide participants with a "how to" list or a resource list following the webinar, and should be comfortable having their PowerPoint presentation being posted to the NHBSR website.

Preference will be given to presentations that build in a component to attract co-workers and/or teams for a collaborative discussion that follows the topic. For example, the presenter could supply "Discussion Questions" for organizations to use as a guide to continue the dialogue in their own setting.

How to Apply

NHBSR members are invited to submit proposals that address one or more of the topic areas above. The NHBSR Webinar Committee will work with selected presenters to determine webinar presentation scheduling.

Proposals should include the following:

  • Topic
  • Proposed Title
  • One paragraph summary of the presentation
  • Description of the "takeaway" for participants
  • Presenters' names, titles, and brief bios (2-3 sentences)
  • Picture of presenters (for marketing purposes if webinar proposal is selected)

Proposals are due no later than October 20th, 2010 and should be emailed to Kate, NHBSR's Program Director.

The NHBSR Webinar Committee will select ten presenters based on the following criteria:

  • How effectively the  presentation covers an issue related to environment, workplace, community, or practices
  • Relevance of the topic to NHBSR members
  • Quality of the "takeaway"
  • Presenter's willingness and ability to market presentation and provide participants with valuable knowledge and resource.

Selected applicants will be notified of their selection by October 29th, 2010. Those that are selected will be contacted to discuss Webinar scheduling and development.
