Changing the Conversation

Changing the Conversation was the theme of this year's National Breast Cancer Coalition's (NBCC) Annual Advocacy Training and Lobby Day held

April 30-May 3.

Why does the conversation need to change?

The NBCC has declared a deadline for the end of breast cancer- Breast Cancer Deadline 2020-and there is a strategic plan to get there. The first step is changing the conversation about breast cancer. This year's conference taught advocates how to effectively shift the conversation on a national and local level to the single-minded purpose of ending breast cancer by January 1, 2020.

What can you do?

Visit the web site to learn more about the strategy in place to achieve the deadline:www.breastcancerdeadline2020.org

Get on the Clock! Show your family, friends and community that you are On the Clock and Changing the Conversation about breast cancer. With a commitment of $20, you can watch your face rotate On the Clock for an entire month in 10-second intervals. More information Click Here.

The BCA will be holding discussions in our community over the next few months. Please join us at an event and learn more about this Deadline.

Join us at next year's conference: May 5-8, 2012. The BCA offers a limited number of scholarships to attend. Details will be announced in January 2012.

BCA Award Nominations

Each year we look forward to seeing our members, friends and family at the Breast Cancer Alliance of Greater Cincinnati (BCA) Annual Survivorship Celebration. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Clovernook Country Club on 2035 W. Galbraith Road Cincinnati, OH 45239.

This event gives all of us an opportunity to visit with the many breast cancer friends that we have met along our journey. We get strength from the collective energy from this group of amazing people.

The event also offers an opportunity to acknowledge those in our community who are making a difference in the fight against the disease. We are asking you for your help in identifying those individuals that would be deserving of recognition. Click Here for a nomination form for the Linda K. Heines Award of Inspiration and Hope. Nominations are due June 30, 2011. Click Here for a list of past awardees.

We look forward to seeing you on October 29!
