What you will learn:
You will learn what it is like to have a horse of your own. The daily responsibility of caring, riding and bonding with one special horse.
Areas of health care, farrier care, training, barn management or course design will be part or your learning experience. |
|
Your own horse for camp:
Who hasn't dreamed of having her own horse? Well here is your chance to experience that dream. You will be assigned a horse for your camp. You will get to know your horse on the first riding day and start the full care and become that horses new best friend.
We have a variety of breeds, heights and skill levels to accommodate any camper.
|
|
Your riding time:
We start out with a written and then riding evaluation to determine the best horse match for you and to determine your riding goals for the week.
On Monday you are assigned your new horse and we design your lessons based on your previous experience and your riding goal. You will ride in two sessions per day and each session lasts an hour or more. You can be a beginner or an advanced rider and your lessons will compliment your skill level.
We will be using a skill block system. Once we have evaluated the riders existing skill level, the rider will then be challenged to master the next skill blocks. Riders can move up at their own pace but will enjoy learning new things while improving and utilizing their existing skills.
Some riding sessions may be trail riding, bareback riding or a free ride. |
|
Other Activities:
Other activities are swimming, horse movie night, games, visiting the exotic and farm animals. |

How to handle Homesickness
It is not uncommon for a child to feel homesick when away at camp. This is a normal process. This is an excellent time for your child to learn that they can have a support system outside of the family.
Preparation before camp with other away from home sleep overs, avoiding the 'pick up deal', (If you get homesick I'll pick you up) and packing some photos or familiar items from home are just a few things you can do to minimize homesickness.
