The Lower School faculty welcomes back our students and families. Our opening week was an excellent start! Despite Westport Road construction, our carpool has moved smoothly also, and we appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal. Please - for the safety of all of our students - remember to stay in a single-file carpool lane. Please maintain a 5 mph speed limit, and do not pull around the car in front of you once you have dropped off your child.
This newsletter will be published monthly, and posted on the school web page (follow the faculty web pages to Mrs. Elder's page). If you have any news to share about your child's achievements outside of school, please email Mrs. Elder, so that she can share it with the Walden community.
Just a reminder to parents that students are picked-up by their teachers from the Tucker Assembly Hall at 7:50 AM to go to homeroom, so that the school day can begin promptly at 8:00 AM. Students arriving between 7:50 and 8:05 AM go directly to homeroom. Students arriving after 8:05 AM are marked tardy. Your child's success in school is enhanced by consistent on-time attendance.
By now, families should have received information regarding Lower School cross country and tennis. Cross country practice will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 3-4 PM beginning next week through October 6th. The Tennis Club will meet at Blairwood country club every Friday, September 10 through November 12, from 1:30-2:30.
The dates for Computer Club have been set for Tuesdays (11/2-12/7) - more details will be emailed home soon. Flamenco dates have also been set: Tuesdays & Thursdays in February (2/8-2/24). You should receive information regarding Chess Club (fall & spring) and Fencing (fall) very soon (in addition to Quick Recall, Basketball, Drama Club as the year progresses).
