HALL OF FAME
|
Thank you to everyone who sent me photos, here are a few of the best. For a larger view of the cakes, please do visit the Hall of Fame on our website by clicking here.
Since coming across our website it has encouraged Alan Donohue to make more cakes. Having purchased a set of colour pastes, it was a joy knowing that the world was his oyster when it comes to colour themes for cakes from now on! This was a cake he made for his Godson and thankfully he loved it. Alan says "keep up the good work with your website and newsletter, always great tips". Thanks Alan.
This is a photo of a 60th Birthday Cake Ann McKenzie made recently (thanks to our speedy delivery). It is a flower power inspired cake with hundreds of sugar flowers and butterflies. The flowers were all handmade and some glittered. The balls on the top were sugar paste covered polystyrene so they wouldn't be too heavy, with even more glitter!
It's great Ann.

This is the wedding cake Barbara O'Brien made for her niece. As you can see it's not a traditional wedding cake! They wanted to use the Mexican celebration for the Day of the Dead as the theme for their special day; all bright flowers and hand painted sugar skulls. Even though Barbara says it herself, she is really proud of this cake and has never seen a cake get so much attention at a wedding.
Barbara's husband says it's the best cake she has ever made and I also think it is a work of art. Barbara loves reading the newsletters and seeing other people's cakes and ideas.

This beautiful Louis Vuitton cake was made by
Catherine Mullen.

Ceri Cusack hopes we enjoy looking at her gingernut cookie cupcakes. She is a wife to both her husband and the army whilst also being a mum. She follows her husband around the world, moving every few years and she started making cakes and treats to do something with her time. She also makes fondants and posts them to Afghanistan. Keep up the fantastic work Ceri and well done on using the butterfly cutter for your mini gingerbread cookies.
A gorgeous cake by
Claire Cottrill
Another pretty Tinkerbell cake by Kim Shaw
Jacqueline Parsons, a first time cake decorator, attempted some flowers and these are the outcome. I think they are pretty amazing for a complete beginner. Good luck and thank you for your lovely comments regarding all the online
help you have received and your enjoyment of the newsletters.
Here is a lovely girlie cake made for Joanna Miller's niece's 16th birthday. She couldn't find a diamante 16 pick in time for the day, so her sister made this one. If you had come to us Joanna you could have ordered them by clicking here! Joanna has been enjoying cake decorating for several years now and her children have persuaded her to launch her own business. She says it's scary stuff but she's having a go!
Jodie Mawer loves getting her newsletter through and seeing everyone's lovely cakes in the Hall of Fame. She thought she would send this fairy cake which was for a friend's daughter's 4th birthday. It's really lovely Jodie.
This is the first picture Kate Jordin has sent in and it's fab. She made it for a Range Rover fan and it was good fun, if a little stressful at times! Kate loves Cake Craft World and gets all her cake baking and decorating bits from us. Her next big project is her own wedding cake and we look forward to seeing a photo of that too. Good Luck Kate!

Leanne Loughlin is always very impressed by the photographs that readers send in of their cakes and here is one of hers. Leanne is quite new to cake making and decorating. She had always wanted to have a go so when she got engaged last year she decided then that she would make her own wedding cake. She made this 4 tier cake for her special day. She also made the figures for the cake topper - it's Paul McCartney in his Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band suit and Leanne in her wedding dress but as Supergirl underneath (she's a big Superman fan!). Absolutely brilliant Leanne, you must be so proud.

I love this really cute mouse wedding cake by Lynda Platts.

A pretty fairy castle cake
by Mary Terry

Morag Abercrombie only started decorating cakes last year after attending a one day course and she is lucky enough to have a son who is a chef who makes the cakes for her to decorate. I love this jam jar cake, bursting with fresh strawberries.

Wow! As Pam Enright purchased almost all of the goodies for this wedding cake from our website, she thought it appropriate to let us see the finished product. She was inspired by a picture published in a recent newsletter. The cake was five tiers which consisted of a fruit, vanilla, chocolate and two lemon sponge tiers. Pam was really pleased with everything she purchased from Cake Craft World and complimented us on how beautifully it was packed! The edible crystals were beautiful, however despite telling the hotel that everything on the cakes was edible, they picked every crystal off thinking they were real! She also used the crystals to fill the clear pillars. Pam, an enthusiastic amateur, has been making cakes for 30 years, but never loses the enjoyment of seeing the look on peoples faces when they see their cake for the first time. Pam loves the newsletter which always provides inspiration and fresh ideas. Well done, I love it.

Pat Whorwood's been busy again this month creating this lovely Minnie Mouse cake. Well done Pat.

On Sunday 18th July 2011, Sue McCann won first prize for her Olympic stadium cake at the 'Mayor Of Newhams' annual show which was held in Central Park, East Ham.
The cake was a chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache covered in sugarpaste. The supports were mexican paste and run outs for the stadium lighting. The only bits that couldn't be eaten were the flag poles and the lights. Well done Sue, what a great achievement.
This is Tanya Clifford's first modelled cake made with equipment from Cake Craft World of a pixie teapot house. For a first attempt it is outstanding. Keep it up Tanya, you have a real talent!

Dear Readers,
Can you believe we are coming to the end of the summer? I must say I really have enjoyed the time I have had with my daughter and one of the highlights was going to see the film starring those lovely little Smurfs. I was so captivated by them that I came straight home and made one out of sugarpaste, you will meet her later.
As the children go back to school, so do the cake decorating courses start. This is a good time to remind you of our special 5% discount for cake decorating students and 10% discount for tutors. All the details of how to get your discount are explained at the very bottom of this newsletter. To have a look at our discounted student kits, click here . Our webmaster has been busy revamping our sister website, www.cakecraftshop.co.uk and what a great job he has done. It is fun and very easy to navigate. To launch its new look we are holding a competition giving away £100 worth of cake decorating goodies of your choice. To enter just find all three lucky stars hidden somewhere on the site. Take down the special number associated with each star and send them over using the contact form (no purchase necessary). The winner will be picked out at random on 30.09.11. Unfortunately the competition is not open to Cake Craft employees. Good Luck!

These stunning cupcakes are perfect for a special occasion such as a wedding or extravagant late summer party. The lilac rose is made with flower paste and the cream rose is made with white cocoform and studded with silver dragees. Both cupcakes are finished off with handmade sugar flowers from our huge range. Absolutely beautiful.

Take the stress out of making large quantities of buttercream with these delicious natural frostings. Completely free of artificial colourings and additives, these natural frostings are perfect for piping on to cupcakes and filling and covering sponges. Great if you have a large volume of cupcakes to make as one tub will allow you to pipe around 100 cupcakes. Refrigeration is not necessary but it must be stored in a cool place. They are available in strawberry, chocolate, vanilla and lemon.

Here is my little Smurfette that I made for my 5 year old daughter and she has kept because it's so cute. It is definitely a popular choice this summer for children. I used atlantic blue regalice and mixed it with white regalice until the correct shade was achieved (approximately 3 parts blue to one part white). Don't forget to use red for Papa Smurf's hat!

As it's the weekend I thought I would inject a measure of alcohol! This is my version of a cocktail flavoured cupcake, called a Cuptail! I have given you a recipe below for Cosmopolitan flavoured cupcakes and they are absolutely delicious. Serve them to friends instead of desserts, they are sure to be the talking point of the evening or BBQ. I have decorated my flamboyant cuptail with yellow balls, umbrella and butterfly.
Cosmopolitan Cuptails (Makes 12 cupcakes)
- 150g butter softened
- 150g Caster Sugar
- 3 eggs
- 150g self raising flour
- 1 tbsp fresh orange juice
- Grated rind of 1 orange
- To decorate:
- 200g Cream Cheese
- 4 tbsp Crème Fraiche
- 4 tbsp icing sugar
- 3 or 4 tbsp Cointreau and Cranberry juice mix
- Red food colour
- Edible glitter
Mix together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Whisk in the eggs one at a time. Fold in the flour, then stir in the orange juice and orange rind. Fill the 12 cupcake cases and cook for 20 mins at Gas 4 (180 electric)
To decorate, whisk the cream cheese, crème fraiche and icing sugar until light and creamy. Mix in the Cointreau and cranberry juice and a little food colour. Finish with any decoration of your choice.

| Sunday | |

Sunday is all about cream teas and dainty cupcakes so may I introduce you to my new 'cupcake canapes'. They are so popular and I get orders for them all the time. They are baked in mini muffin cases and are just enough cake for one mouthful. This makes them very easy to eat, perfect for a late summer party. Decorate with fruits or sprinkles from our massive range and have fun creating different and pretty styles.
|
| Look Who's POPPED Up! | |

These cute new cake pops fun jungle picks are not only good for cake pops but they look fab on cupcakes too. The great thing about them is that they are plastic so they can be washed and used again and again. Great for your little monkey's party.

| Congratulations to All the Brain Boxes | |

With all the hard work that goes into achieving a degree, your graduated loved ones surely deserve some of these brilliant cupcake delights. This pack includes cases, and picks so all you have to do is bake the cakes, what could be simpler?

| Great New Book Alert | |

If cake pops are your thing, you NEED to buy this book. It is an absolute Bible of cake pop designs which I have taken lots of inspiration from. It is very easy to find ideas as there is a seasonal section as well as themes. My favourite from the book has to be the Halloween mummy, he's soooo cute in all his bandages! It is available now by clicking here.

| Great New Toppers | |

Sometimes it is hard to find cake decorations and toppers for teenage boys and girls which is why we are so happy to have come across these funky little people. There is a whole range available of these wooden topper sets (ribbon not included) and I especially love this funky girl with her handbags and cool surfer dude. There are also toppers for younger children too including an astronaut, footballer, cowboy, ballerina and mermaid.

Elegant DIY Cake
| |

This lovely wooden heart topper is perfect for a wedding, engagement or romantic celebration cake. I decorated the sides of this cake with a new product called edible ready rolled icing ribbon. It is an ingenious product which comes ready rolled, cut and embossed and is a metre in length. All you have to do is attach it to your covered cake with edible glue and you have a beautifully finished cake with very little effort or time taken. Before I attached my icing ribbon, I sprayed it first with gold lustre spray and then with pearl lustre spray to achieve a two tone look that matches perfectly with the topper.
