Dear Reader
Hubble bubble toil and trouble.....Halloween is just around the corner and CakeCraftWorld has become a spooky city! We have been busy making all shapes and sizes of creepy cakes to be photographed for the newsletter and the website. So whether you are staying in this Halloween or venturing out for some trick or treating, there should be something for everyone in this month's newsletter.
I have also included a burlesque theme this month to show you some ideas of what to do with all that black icing that is left over from Halloween. Very few people actually understand what 'burlesque' really is so to make it very simple, the Victorians were not keen on showing flesh. The softer and lovelier the skin, the more fabric they dumped on top of it. So when a group of young Englishwomen bleached their hair and donned flesh-coloured tights for the stage, they scandalised - and thrilled - Britain. The tights were an ingenious invention, giving the impression of naked flesh while remaining covered. This is how burlesque started and the shows were seen as shocking...however always sold out!
I hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and I look forwarded to receiving all your interesting emails and photos on louise@cakecraftworld.com. Until November, happy Baking!

Terrifying Ribbons!
Whether you are making a scary cake or a spooky batch of biscuits, finish off with one of our fantastic Halloween ribbons for a truly seasonal feel.

|
|
Boney Cupcakes
To make this boney white chocolate skeleton simply fill the skeleton parts candy mould with melted white chocolate, leave to set and pop out each section. The skeleton parts can then be arranged sitting up and dangling over cupcakes, ice cream etc or arranged flat on top of a larger cake. I recommend using the Callebaut white chocolateand why not try the plastic squeezy bottles to melt the chocolate in and squeeze into the moulds? If this isn't scary enough, add some plastic spider rings and bat pix!

|

Burlesque? Corset is...
This corset cake is very simple to make but very effective. It was made for my Stepdaughter's 21st birthday and she loved it! The 'studs' are silver dragees but you could also use our pink ones. I decided to use a black satin ribbon on this cake but you could make yours from black sugarpaste. This bubblegum pink sugarpaste was achieved by mixing shocking pink and white sugarpaste together in equal quantities. I made the roses from black petal paste but you can use our hand made medium black rose.

More Burlesque Ideas
This pretty topper shows the showgirl theme in a different light. The rose is made from our wired organza ribbon and then teamed up with one of our feather sprays and finished with a silver diamante number pick.
Garrett frills always remind me of frilly knickers so what better place to use them than on a burlesque cake! I have lined the frills with our silver beading and topped it with black feathers and white shooting star spray. We have many different colour combinations of feather and sprays, why not experiment?

This delightful little cupcake was sent in by Samantha Douglas and I think it is very burlesque! Simply cover your cupcake with black sugarpaste then layer it with a smaller scalloped edge circle of pink sugarpaste. To get the patterned bra effect, use one of our great textured rolling pins and finish off with tiny silver dragees and a moulded rose. Perfect!

Readers Hall of Fame
I have had some lovely photos sent in this month. Please also have a look on our new cake gallery section of the website for our collection.

Cara Smith has sent in her photo of the cake she made for her
Son's birthday. Have you noticed that the trees are made out of Twix bars?! If you need some help in modelling animals, this Sugar Animals book is excellent and I use it all the time.

Claire Bateman considers herself and amateur with not much experience but I love this castle cake. She has used our romantic castle kit to create this.

This cake beautiful with all it's handmade roses is from Danielle Chrystal. For our full range of handmade roses, click here.

Dawn Harmer's cake is a pretty 3 tiered heart cake which is so delicate.

I absolutely love this teapot and cup combo Emma McEwen!

Eunice Boateng has used our Classic Wonder Mould to create this beautiful communion Princess, including bible.

Jo Smith is a beginner and has sent in her Peppa Pig cake which is brilliant. Blossoms can be created by using flower plunger cutters.
