OOPS!
We hate making mistakes...
 apologies to Mr. Hodgman
for the typo in today's earlier email.

Funnyman John Hodgman
is serious about The Snowy Day. Read his thoughtful remarks on Ezra and
his legacy.

If you love The Snowy Day...
have you read John Henry?

John Henry

That steel-driving man who was born, and died, with a hammer in his hand vividly comes to life in this colorful and dramatic picture book. Each page seems to radiate the vital force that led John Henry to challenge a steam drill to a rock-
drilling contest - and win.

Bonus: Folklore, railroad lore and music, inspired by this mythic hero.

Dear Friends,

It's time to introduce myself to my fellow Keats fans. My name is Margot Abel, and I'm Associate Director of the EJK Foundation. Since I came on board last spring, Deborah Pope and I, along with Director of Digital Production Diana Vozza, have been working to improve all facets of our operation. We've revamped our website and expanded our social media (including this newsletter!), launched our 50th anniversary celebration of The Snowy Day, and made our Book Award and Bookmaking Competition even stronger than before. Deborah has been talking to the media, and I've been in touch with teachers and children around the country - all in an effort to let more people know about our programs, and most important, the need for diversity in children's literature.

Now that school's almost over and our awards have all been given out, we're busy planning for the future. But, yes, we also plan to enjoy our summer. We'll be at the Eric Carle Museum to celebrate the opening of the Keats exhibit, and in Prospect Park for the fabulous Family Concert. See you there!

P.S. I love my job!

Sincerely,

Margot Abel
