Dear Friends,

We are pleased to announce the relaunch of the Ezra Jack Keats Foundation website, going live this month. We're rolling out new features even as we make the site easier to use and navigate.

Among our latest additions: a new animation of The Snowy Day on our Fun & Games page, complete with wonderful narration and soundtrack.

To further commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Snowy Day, we're asking some prominent fans to share their thoughts on the Keats classic. We'll share their replies throughout the year. Plus, we are convinced that if you love The Snowy Day, you'll want to try other Keats stories, which we're happy to recommend.

Now, as with any major change, there are bound to be bugs. If you are having trouble getting where you want to go on our site, please send us an email so we can try to find a solution.

So join us for all things Keats as we celebrate Peter's golden anniversary.

Sincerely,

Deborah Pope

Watch - and listen - as Peter plays in an animated,
syncopated video of The Snowy Day, the latest
read-aloud on our Fun & Games page.

If you love The Snowy Day...

have you read Whistle for Willie?

In this charming sequel to The Snowy Day, an older and wiser Peter wants to learn to whistle. Wouldn't it be the perfect way to call his dog Willie? Peter tries so hard to whistle that his cheeks hurt, but he doesn't give up. With a very light hand and his legendary illustrations, Keats creates a world in which effort yields results.

World Read Alound Day

The EJK Foundation joins LitWorld, an organization dedicated to promoting global literacy, to celebrate World Read Aloud Day on March 7. It's a day when children all around the world meet via live webcast to read books together - including The Snowy Day. Last year, 200,000 readers in 60 countries participated; this year, the goal is a million! New York children's bookstore Books of Wonder is hosting a day of read-aloud sessions, workshops and special events, but there are lots of ways to participate.
