logobuttonFor the past couple of days Dive Into Your Imagination had two of their special advisory board in meetings, Canyon and Presley, a four and six year old. We have been using their ideas to continue to help us achieve our mission, to inspire the children of the world to love our Ocean because we protect what we love. After a few discussions with them, the Viz was amazing for all of us!

At every meal when we gave thanks, I asked them if we could "Give Thanks To Our Ocean." When discussing the "why" as all children need to know, we made it simple. The food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink is because of our one Ocean. And even though they were visiting from Minnesota, they have been raised knowing that everything we do on land affects our Ocean.

As Presley used her imagination she thought the oil rigs off the California coast were pirates and pirate ships. When I discussed that these were oil rigs and what we use oil for now this led to a discussion about being fossil free by 2033. Canyon and I discussed what it meant to be fossil free. Canyon said, "we are getting solar panels for our house and my mom drives a Prius." He also says that most of our oxygen comes from the Ocean. Canyon is 6. When I hear this, I have such gratitude in my heart. Dive Into Your Imagination was founded because the Ocean has given me a life I never dreamed and this was how I could continue to give back to our Ocean.

Please remember our Ocean this weekend. She is responsible for the health of our planet and we need to continue to "Give Thanks to Our Ocean!" Yes we can make a difference, thanks for all you do to help! Read more in my blog.

octocoral
Do you know what octo means? In Latin, octo means eight. Many species in the ocean have Latin names for identification purposes. Count the eight tentacles on this coral polyp. How many do you see? That is right, EIGHT! Eight tentacles on the polyp helps us identify octocoral colonies. Read more!

logobuttonDive Into Your Imagination! I believe that when you get a group of kids together and encourage them to play, they really do know how to play make believe! It was not because we had a camera there, these friends get together and like to create scenes. I believe all kids dream of being a movie star or filmmaker. See what I'm talking about!

You can imagine my surprise when Wyland, of all people, paid a visit to Mote! The outer wall of my department is a huge underwater mural, which Wyland painted years ago. And today, Wyland was coming to touch-up his work! Come take a look at this!
