annies blogALERT:  WE ARE SAFE IN SANTA BARBARA!  Thanks for all the outreach!  This newsletter is scheduled to be published in the morning and we pray the fires in Santa Barbara will be contained.  I am praying for rain.  It is past midnight and dozens of houses have burned.  We are safe and have opened our homes and offices to those in need.  Read more about this news in my daily blog.

The Viz:  "Millions of stars lined the Milky Way Highway as the moon rose out of the ocean.  As the night wore on, I lay down on the sundeck, listening to the buzz of the boat's engines, and wondered if we would be diving with Great White Sharks in the morning."

MatieB and I traveled to Guadalupe Island recently and today in our DIYI On the Road section you will meet Eric, one of the guys we met on the Solmar V with Shark Diving International. He has been dreaming of diving with Great White Sharks since before he could walk. The experience was one that Mat and I will remember forever. The strangest part of our experience was being surrounded by crystal blue ocean and NOT being able to jump in without getting into a cage for protection. Now more than ever, sharks need our protection. Please check out what SaveOurSeas.com is doing to support scientists around the world.

The holidays are right around the corner and we would LOVE it if you visited our store and gave the gift of the OCEAN to your loved ones. The proceeds from all sales allow us to continue our work. It is simple, we want you to fall in love with the ocean because we protect what we love! Please join our community, it is free and we want to hear from you in our forum!            Living in Gratitude, Annie

Humbug Damselfish are some of my favorite fish that live on the reef. When you see them in action, you will understand why. They are small fish, when full grown they are just bigger than the size of a 25 cent piece and everything wants to eat them. They make their homes in hard table-top corals. Watch them as they dance above the reef!

scientistDr. Jonah Busch is an economist, yet his work still involves the ocean. His knowledge of economics and Environmental Science helps him as he assesses the economic impact of conservation programs. Just goes to show that you don't have to be a biologist to love and work with the ocean!
Check out this cool scientist!

This footage in this entry is similar to the first. We were establishing everyone's presence at the reunion. Remember we had 40 people to capture, keep happy and make them all movie stars so we needed to film a little bit more, especially because one of the families arrived all the way from Australia. Find out more about how to film your family!

Mote Marine Lab's dolphin and whale hospital also cares for sick and injured sea turtles! Currently, I am working with three turtles that either have, or are recovering from, a condition called Fibropapillomatosis. Whoa! That's a mouthful! Let's break down the word to find out about the disease.

Eric Shapiro is probably the biggest Great White Shark fan we have ever met! We recently went on a trip and was able to interview Eric on his adventure! Eric's first description about his experience is well, wordless. Just watch!
