The Four Agreements and Politics
There is simply no denying the tension and strong emotions this election has brought about for Americans on both sides of the red/blue spectrum. The issues were emotionally charged and the convictions deeply personal. I found myself growing more stressed and tense each day as the election loomed closer. I have been distressed by what I saw happening to so many people I love, admire and care about. Fear and negativity were getting a firm grip on just about everyone in one form or another. The fear seemed to be skyrocketing everywhere, bordering on panic in some cases.
Suddenly it was "them" or "us". Almost everyone could be lumped neatly into one of two categories, liberal or conservative. I found myself doing it and others passing that same judgement onto me. It was my 14-year-old son that knocked me back to my spiritual senses. I was pointing out all of the "yes on 8" and "no on 8" signs posted in the neighborhood and mentioned to Michael that now I could easily see what all of my neighbors were really like. He glared at me as only a 14-year-old can and said "now you can easily know who to judge" Ouch. He was right, of course.
This insightful little exchange made me examine the possibilities of approaching politics with The Four Agreements in mind. Be Impeccable With Your Word. Which means not saying hurtful or hateful things about others or self. Don't Take Anything Personally. Oh boy. Guilty as charged. Don't Make Assumptions. That, in my opinion, is why fear has such a choke hold on so many people. They are jumping to conclusions and making assumptions about the future. Always Do Your Best. Be the person you want to see looking back at you from the mirror. Be the person your inner judge can be proud of.
What have you learned about yourself during this historic election? What are you projecting on to others, including our new leaders?
You know that last scene in "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas?" where everyone in Whoville is holding hands and singing and the Grinch heart has grown three sizes in one day... that is my wish for America today.

Prosperity vs Greed
Just as students in my classes began to get comfortable with the idea of prosperity and a life without lack we were hit with the stunning collapse of the banking industry. Greed and its devastating consequences became front page news. In my estimation there's a big difference between prosperity and greed.
Greed is when there's never enough. Greed steps on others in order to obtain what it wants. When greed is involved, someone else loses. Greed hoards. Greed is stingy and selfish. Greed stops at nothing to obtain more, no matter who gets hurt in the process or how unethical.
Prosperity, on the other hand, flows in and out like a stream. Prosperity shares and spends without fear. Prosperity and gratitude go hand in hand. Prosperity is earned fairly and ethically. Money itself is neutral, the lessons belong to the handlers.

Missing Person Foundation
One talented detective and I have been tossing around the idea of starting a MP Foundation. I'm sure it wasn't a coincidence that we came up with the same idea at the same time, only from different coasts. Together we realized that many missing persons remain missing because the resources to search for them are sorely lacking. We'd like to change that.
