Summer, 2012 Newsletter

Dear Clients and Friends,

I hope you are well and healthy! It's been a busy spring, and I am excited to tell you about my business growth and developments over the past several months.

Briefly, here are some of the newest happenings:

1. My home gym has expanded to include a Pilates Studio! The studio can fit 4-6 students and has commercial-grade mirrors to help students keep perfect form.

2. I am now training several groups of students, both with Pilates and strength training/cardio/core classes. I am always looking for new groups, or individuals who would like to join a group to work with friends and save money. In fact, I am starting a class:
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30
Starting June 19 for 8 weeks
4 spots available: $19/class paid monthly
Call to RSVP: (703) 517-6073

3. I have also developed packages to better serve my clients' needs. Please click here to see the newest offerings.

For a more complete description of what I have been up to, please read my Open Letter to Clients.

I can't wait for you to see my studio rooms in person! If you bring a new friend, I will give you both a free Pilates class together. Call me at (703) 517-6073 for details.

Best wishes for a fun-filled summer,

Danielle Marquez

Aqua Classes

aquaAqua aerobics are a great way to stay in shape for the summer. Besides being a "cool" alternative to land-based formats, pool exercises are nonimpact, and the water adds plenty of resistance!

Are you interested in learning some aqua aerobics moves? Come on over to my heated, in-ground swimming pool!

$50 per 45-minute class
  • Learn new skills, try out pool equipment, and add variety to your workout.
  • Available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, or by mutually convenient appointment.
Alcohol and...body composition?

alcoholSummer parties, pool gatherings, boating weekends...all of these events have a great partner in cocktails, wine, and beer. But did you know that regularly drinking alcohol will destroy the lean physique you are craving?

Here's why:
  • Alcohol has 7 calories per gram (carbs and proteins have 4 and fats have 9). Those calories add up really quickly.
  • People tend to eat about 200 calories more than they would if they were not drinking.
  • It makes you dehydrated and contributes to poor sleep, both of which will impact your exercise performance the next day. On a related note, the lack of sleep increases cortisol in the body. An increase in cortisol affects ghrelin, the hormone that increases hunger. A regular increase in ghrelin is linked to obesity.
  • Regular drinking impairs nutrient absorption, and your muscles will not get the fuels they need to give you that sculpted look.
Of course, moderation is okay and is the key to healthy living!
