On April 23, Ken Fisher and the Duke of Gloucester attended a ground breaking ceremony for a Fisher House at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in the United Kingdom where allied Wounded Warriors are receiving treatment. Driving more than five hours from her home in Morgantown, W. Va., to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, for her temporary disability retirement list evaluation quickly became physically and financially impossible for her sustain, and she decided to look for temporary lodging on or near the base. During the Month of the Military Child, the First Lady, Michelle Obama came to the Fisher House to visit with children of Wounded Warriors getting care at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
