Featured Fundraiser: 9/11 Heroes and Patriot Day 5K for Fisher House | |
The Residences at Bulle Rock completed their first annual 9/11 Heroes and Patriot Day 5 K /1-Mile Family Fun Walk on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 at the Bulle Rock Community in Havre de Grace, Maryland.

The walk started at 11am on Sunday, 9/11. With only three months to plan, the committee set the fundraiser goal at $3,000 and were pleased to raise over $6,500.00 for Fisher House Foundation.
The purpose of this walk was to honor the fallen by challenging the living, as well as to raise money for a great cause. This was a great time for our community to come together on 9/11 and Patriot Day to remember, honor, and support our men and women in the armed services and our first responders, who protect and serve our country and communities each and every day.
The Bulle Rock Community partnered with the following sponsors to make this event a great success: Upper Chesapeake Health, DEVCON securities, Hollywood Casinos, Long & Foster Realtors, SBSI, Jiffy Lube, Brusters Ice Cream, Odyssey Salon and Day Spa, Nationwide Insurance, Churchville Veterinary Clinic, Swan Creek Veterinary Clinic, Greenbrier Veterinary Clinic, and the Residences at Bulle Rock.
Thank you, Bulle Rock, for talking the talk and walking the walk to show your support for America's Heroes! |

BOB & ELIZABETH DOLE HELP DEDICATE NEW FISHER HOUSE AT WASHINGTON DC VA MEDICAL CENTER
WASHINGTON, D.C. [September 9, 2011] - Former US Senators Robert and Elizabeth Dole joined Fisher House Foundation Chairman and CEO Ken Fisher and wounded warriors and their familiesto dedicate the newest Fisher House on the campus of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Washington, DC (DCVAMC), on Thursday evening.
"I hope this house will be a place of comfort, allowing families to focus on their main priority: the health and well being of their loved one," said Senator Bob Dole, who was joined by his wife, Senator Elizabeth Dole, at the event.
"This is a proud day for the Fisher House Foundation, as we give back to the families who have given so much to our nation," said Ken Fisher, Chairman & CEO of Fisher House. "Fisher Houses provide stability at a time of great instability for so many military families. Just as those who have worn our nation's uniform have stood up for us, today we stand up for them."
The 16,800 sq-ft., two-story "comfort home" will join the network of more than 50 Fisher Houses operating in the United States and Germany and will be gifted to the VA as part of the ceremony. The house consists of 20 suites, each with a private, handicapped-accessible bathroom and common areas that include a multi-cooking station kitchen, large communal dining and family rooms. Construction of this Fisher House was supported locally by Charity Works, and the Kappa Sigma Military Heroes Campaign.
"We are grateful to Fisher House Foundation for its commitment to Veterans and for their partnership with Washington DC VA Medical Center on this project," said Mr. Michael Dunfee, Acting Medical Center Director. "This Fisher House is the fulfillment of a long-standing goal of the Medical Center staff to include family support in the care of Veterans with serious health challenges."
Known as the "Flagship of VA Health Care," Washington DC VA Medical Center is among the most dynamic and innovative hospitals in the VA system, providing quality health care to over 80,000 Veterans in Washington, DC, the Maryland suburbs, southern Maryland, and Northern Virginia. The Medical Center is located on 50 Irving St., N.W. in Washington DC. To learn more about the Washington DC VA Medical Center, visit www.washingtondc.va.gov.
