Featured Fundraiser - Project RightChoice | |

Project RightChoice was founded by a group of Dartmouth students during the fall of 2009. Motivated by a desire to better understand the social issues facing their generation and by a desire to gain practical experience serving populations in need, a group of passionate and caring students decided to develop a student-run organization that would enable themselves and fellow students to achieve these goals.
Project RightChoice's Mission:
- Impact - Making a Difference One Drop at a Time
- Leadership - Bringing Together the Leaders of Today and Tomorrow
- Awareness - Confronting the Moral and Ethical Concerns of Today
Under the advisement of both academic and non-academic advisors, Project RightChoice's members research and select an annual cause, establish fundraising and awareness goals, and execute approved plans of action. Believing that "the best learning comes through active experience," Project RightChoice sets out to promote social education through active engagement in the community.
Thank you, Project RightChoice for selecting Fisher House in 2010. Your efforts have raised significant funds (over $81,000) and awareness for the Foundation.

Featured Story - Zachary Keeley
|
In November of 2002, Christie Keeley began experiencing complications with her pregnancy that required her medical evacuation to the Keesler Air Force Base medical center. Due to the severity of her condition, her doctor recommended thather then-husband, David, go as well.Orders were cut, and he soon followed. "It all happened so quick I wasn't able to make reservations for a place tostay," recalls David, then an Air Force technical sergeant. The billeting clerk arranged for him to stay at the base's Fisher House, which he'd never heard of before. "I didn't know my way around Keesler very well, but the directions seemed simple enough," he says. "When I arrived at the address I was sure I was in the wrong place." Before him was a large, two-story brick home, adorned with Christmas lights. "Through the window left of the door I saw a family in the dining room eating supper," he continues. "Through the right window I saw family members sitting next to the Christmas tree, watching television. Surely this was the base commander's home. I pulled out of the parking spotand went out in search of anything else that might be the Fisher House."Read the whole story in The Patriot on pages 22-23

| Your Funds at Work - St. Louis VA Medical Center Fisher House |
I had the great privilege to attend the dedication of the Saint Louis VA Medical Center Fisher House last week. I was moved by the speech of the president of the St. Louis Fisher House Board, Jim Donahoe. His dedication and committment to veterans were beyond words. Read this excerpt from his speech to learn how their Fisher House will affect the St. Louis Veteran community. Some folks may pass this house, look at the exterior and say, "They designed this house to be BEAUTIFUL."Some folks may have watched the construction of this house and seen all of the concrete poured to build the foundation and say, "They designed this house to be STRONG."But, if you only looked at this house from the outside, you would miss the fact that this house was designed to have a HEART. You see, every brick in that house represents the support and commitment that our donors have for our Veterans and military members. It is a house built with LOVE from donors of all walks of life. Who are these donors? Chances are they are the people in this audeince sitting next to you here today. These donors represent companies, foundations, organizations and themselves. But they have two things in common:- They truly care for Veterans and their families
- They helped raise money to build this "home away from home"
We sincerely appreciated the contributions of ALL of our donors. They have worked so hard to make this house a reality. Thanks to donors, over the next decade, this one Fisher House will offer 73,000 nights of free lodging to the families of Veterans hospitalized here.
No longer will spouses have to sleep in hospital lobbies and waiting rooms because they can't afford commerical lodging. No longer will families sleep in cars or vans in hospital parking lots just so they can stay with their loved one. This house, built by donors like you, will allow as many families as possible to be at the Veteran's bedside to help in the healing and recuperation process. As Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher once said, "A Families Love is Good Medicine."
You can take great pride and satisfaction in what you have accomplished. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
