Dear Pan de Vida Supporter,

This past June, my wife and I became parents for the first time.  A life changing event that leaves us in awe of God's creation and gifts to us.  OurAguirre Family 2010 son receives a constant flow of prayer, love, and attention - ample hugs and kisses from mom and dad, relatives and friends.  He is fed when he is hungry, he is changed when he is wet, and if he is sick he receives medical attention on time - he lacks nothing - we always seek to care for him.

When I look at the children and families we serve at Pan de Vida, I know that they often do not receive endless hugs and kisses from their families, many times they have nothing more to eat than rice and beans, they grow up selling candy as they run in and out of cars driving on the road.  They face rejection time and time again. It breaks my heart to think of so many that live in need.

At Pan de Vida, we strive to not only meet the physical needs: food, clothing, and medicine of our beneficiaries, but we also strive to assure that they know of their Heavenly Father who loves them tenderly and cares deeply about them.  It is through generous donations and prayer support that we are able to continue to serve over 1500 people monthly through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  As we draw 2010 to a close, consider how you may help us reach out through your continued prayer and tax deductible financial support for 2011.  click here for more information

Four Ladies Graduate and Two Get jobs

After a year of training the ladies how to sew, how take care of a sewing machine, and how to sell their product, we saw our first four students graduate from the microbusiness pilot and two left the program early because they were able to seek permanent employment using their newly acquired skills!  This has truly been a life changing event for them.  In the words of one participant, Susana, "This is the best thing that has ever happened to me."  At graduation the ladies were given additional materials, the opportunity to purchase a sewing machine for $25, and their portion of the sales profit from the product they made.  At Pan de Vida, we seek not only to help people by sharing the Gospel and with food, but also to empower them to be free from poverty by training them to work.

Summary of the Summer Missions Teams

young girl at soccer camp

We'd like to thank all of our summer mission's teams that came to help with all the programs and construction and to our partners Extreme Response, HCJB, and Youth World for helping us coordinate the groups:

  •  Greystone church
  •  Jeff Kooistra's group
  •  Russell Family
  •   Fountain of Life Lutheran Church

The groups helped run our annual soccer camp and Vacation Bible School, took the children on three field trips to the zoo, vulqano park (an amusement park in Quito), and Initan Museum (museum on the equator).  Additionally, the teams help finish the construction of the last two sections of the wall that surrounds our property, built new dog houses for our two dogs, a planter, and fix the basketball court.  We couldn't have done it all without you!

We know our summer missionaries were very blessed to serve with us and we look forward to have groups run these programs in 2011 summer.

If you are interested in bringing a team or coming as an independent missionary please contact  Extreme Response at mbishop@extremeresponse.org or  dmaloy@extremeresponse.orgvulqano park
