Mark your calendars for this December 4th, 5th and 6th as the Lexington Charity League observes their 50th Annual Holiday Open House with a special 200th Anniversary Celebration tour of Bob Timberlake's Studio.
The tour will offer a rare opportunity to visit "Bob Timberlake's World" including the main facility, guest house, design studio and grounds. Among the many special attractions on the tour will be the room where Bob Timberlake has  created so many of his beautiful paintings as well as scenes throughout the studio grounds which have served as inspiration for his art.  Additionally, Studio3the event will offer Christmas shopping opportunities at the Charity League Shoppes, located nearby at the American Children's Home.  Originally built as a barn in 1809 by Henry Shoaf, the main building stood for many years just west of Lexington on Highway 64.  Bob Timberlake moved it to the present location on  Highway 47 in 1986 where it was restored as his studio. The structure still bears the initials  "H.S." for  Henry Shoaf as well as the original year of completion.
Tickets for the event will be $10.00 with sales beginning on October 24
(Barbecue Festival Week-end) at the Timberlake Gallery and through the Lexington Charity League.  Hours will be 10:00AM until 8:00PM on Friday, December 4th, 10:00AM until 6:00PM on Saturday, December 5th (Be sure to attend the Timberlake Gallery Christmas Open House on this date as well) and Sunday, December 6th from 1:00PM until 6:00PM.
Proceeds will benefit the many programs Charity League members perform in the community, including school-based clothing closets, theater productions for elementary age children and hearing screenings in the Lexington City Schools.
We'll look forward to seeing you this coming December at the Studio!

Corner BoothOYSTER SEASON AT THE CORNER BOOTH

You don't have to be a Waterman from Currituck Sound or the Eastern Shore to become an expert at "harvesting" oysters if you're invited by Bob Timberlake and his Corner Booth Pals to dine on these "molluscan delicacies".  You'll learn quickly or be staring at a platter of empty shells.
The pace is fast and furious, sometimes dangerous, as the diners vie for the tasty morsels, and it's not a luncheon engagement you want to wear your good clothes to.   Two dozen per man to start is commonplace as the lunch hour progresses and whether they're taken raw, steamed or roasted, once these critters are out of the shell, it's a quick dip thru the garlic butter and cocktail sauce (neither for purists) then on to whatever the next world holds.
Capped by wonderful homemade desserts and good-spirited conversation among old and new friends alike, it's an event to be remembered and nestled into the log book of the good things life has given.
